Assessment of peripheral arterial disease of lower limbs with ultrasonography and ankle brachial index at the initiation of hemodialysis.

Aim: Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) of the lower limbs carries high risks of leg amputation, quality of life deterioration, and death in hemodialysis (HD) patients. However, the frequency of PAD at the initiation of HD has not been adequately documented. In addition, the applicability of ultrasonography to diagnosing PAD is not yet clear in HD patients.

[Application of the JJ1017 code to master-table of RIS database].

We are developing an open-type Radiology Information System (RIS) under the project name KPECK. Part of the RIS has already been employed in Kouri Hospital of Kansai Medical University. The RIS is based on a database of the history of clinical study and exposure.

An unusual arterial supply of the kidney from the opposite renal artery.

We describe an extremely rare case with a supplementary artery arising from an opposite renal artery without renal anomalies in position and in form. An unusual artery crossing the aorta can be suggested by contrast-enhanced computed tomography. A renal cell carcinoma is supplied by the branch of the opposite renal artery.
