Downregulated expression of organic anion transporting polypeptide (Oatp) 2b1 in the small intestine of rats with acute kidney injury.

The expression of transporters on the apical and basal membranes of renal tubular cells is modulated under acute kidney injury (AKI). However, little is known about alterations in non-renal transporters in the tissues other than the kidney under AKI situation. This study aimed to assess the modulation of organic anion transporting polypeptide (Oatp) 1a2 and Oatp2b1 expression/function in the small intestine of rats with drug-induced AKI.
