A facile palladium-catalyzed synthesis of thiaphenanthridinones from sulfinate esters and 2-borylanilines is disclosed. Various sulfur analogs of phenanthridinones were synthesized by bromide-selective cross-coupling and cyclization in one step. Further transformations of the obtained thiaphenanthridinones allowed preparing a broad range of thiaphenanthridinone derivatives involving analogs of bioactive compounds.

4D printing of hydrogels is an emerging technology used to fabricate shape-morphing soft materials that are responsive to external stimuli for use in soft robotics and biomedical applications. Soft materials are technically challenging to process with current 4D printing methods, which limits the design and actuation potential of printed structures. Here, a simple multi-material 4D printing technique is developed that combines dynamic temperature-responsive granular hydrogel inks based on hyaluronic acid, whose actuation is modulated via poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) crosslinker design, with granular suspension bath printing that provides structural support during and after the printing process.

This study aims to evaluate a bone augmentation strategy integrating three key growth factors: bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2), insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). An efficient method to prepare dibenzothiophene -oxides is disclosed. Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling of 2-bromoaryl sulfinate esters with arylboronic acids selectively at the bromo group followed by electrophilic cyclization of the resulting sulfinate ester moiety provides diverse dibenzothiophene -oxides. A method of quantifying glyphosate (Gly) in human urine by means of MonoSpin TiO extraction and 9-fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl chloride (FMOC-Cl) derivatization with isotope dilution mass spectrometry (IDMS) was investigated and optimized. Developing a method for creating a novel catalysis of organic molecules is essential because of the growing interest in organocatalysis. In this study, we found that cyclic carbonates immobilized on a nonporous or mesoporous silica support showed catalytic activity for hydrosilylation, which was not observed for the free cyclic carbonates, silica supports, or their physical mixture. Analysis of the effects of linker lengths and pore sizes on the catalytic activity and carbonate C=O stretching frequency revealed that the proximity of carbonates and surface silanols was crucial for synergistic hydrosilylation catalysis.
