The aim of the present study was to clarify the adherence and awareness of oral anticancer agents by type and therapeutic purpose in outpatients prescribed with tegafur/gimeracil/oteracil potassium (S-1) or capecitabine. Outpatients undergoing treatment with the S-1 or capecitabine oral anticancer agents at Ogaki Municipal Hospital (Ogaki, Japan) in June 2013 completed a questionnaire survey and the survey findings were evaluated. No significant differences in medication adherence were identified between the patients administered S-1 and the patients administered capecitabine (P=0.

The aim of this retrospective study was to examine the appropriate potassium supplementation conditions to treat hypokalemia induced by L-AMB. The subjects were 100 hematological patients who received L-AMB for the first time between April 2012 and March 2013.

Design, Setting, And Participants: Twenty-seven patients, who underwent total or partial cystectomy for invasive bladder tumors, were enrolled into the present study. Eight cases had received neoadjuvant chemotherapy following the staging biopsy (group A), ten cases had received chemo-radiation therapy following the staging biopsy (group B), and nine cases had received preoperative staging biopsy alone (group C).
A 32-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with a complaint of right scrotal swelling. He had a past history of left testicular nonseminomatous germ cell tumor (NSGCT), stage IIB 14 years ago. He had undergone chemotherapy with 3 courses of PEP and retroperitoneal lymphnode dissection revealing pathological CR.

Patients And Methods: Thirty-six patients with clinical stage T(1,2)N(0)M(0) renal-pelvic and ureteral tumors underwent HRNU. A retroperitoneoscopic nephrectomy was carried out with hand assistance via a lower-abdominal midline incision.

We propose an urination assist system implantable in a patient who has difficulty in urination caused by the neuropathic bladder in order to assist the urination. The proposed system assists the urination by directly pushing the bladder of the patient using shape memory alloys (SMA). Peltier elements are used to control the temperature in the system.

The extent of postoperative thermal damage in surgically spared renal tissue has not been well examined. The present study was conducted to evaluate the tissue damage caused by microwave coagulation in laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN) for small renal tumors.

The lymphocyte stimulation test with the MTT [3-(4,5-dimethyl thiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide] assay on ampicillin, phenytoin, and furosemide showed a low value of stimulation index, which indicated negative reactivity. An in vitro IFN-gamma release test was conducted on the patient with SJS and on two healthy controls.

However, the effects of pesticides on human immune system, especially on cytokines production, have not been understood well. We investigated the effects of fenitrothion (MEP), an organophosphorus insecticide, and glyphosate (GLP), a phosphorus containing amino acid-type herbicide, on cytokines production by human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC).
