Membrane of the left atrial appendage (LAA) is a rare congenital anomaly, which is reported in few cases, to date. Here, we reported an incidental finding of LAA obstructive membrane in patients with previous history of cerebrovascular event and newly diagnosed rheumatismal mitral stenosis (MS) in echocardiography.

Comparison of Ziziphus jujube Mill. Syrup versus polyethylene glycol in children with functional constipation: a randomized clinical trial.

Functional constipation is a common disorder of the gastrointestinal tract in children without specific treatment. Ziziphus jujuba has been used in traditional medicine for various diseases such as constipation. A safe and inexpensive treatment with few side effects can be used as an effective alternative to current medications.

Injured Cyclists' Experiences of Risk Factors: A Content Analysis.

Objective: Cycling is a healthy and pleasurable activity, but it can also be hazardous. The risk factors for cycling injury are unknown, considering the cycling infrastructure and cyclists' behavior in northern Iran. This study aimed to explain the experiences of injured cyclists admitted to Poursina Educational and Medical Center, Rasht in 2021, as one of the risk factors associated with cycling.

Novel echocardiographic parameters in pulmonary hypertension assessment and the relationship between echocardiography and 6-minute walking test.

Pulmonary artery stiffness (PAS) has been shown to be related to pulmonary artery pressure in patients with pulmonary artery hypertension (PAH). The aim of this study was to determine the correlation between functional capacity and echocardiographic indices of PAS in patients with PAH. This cross-sectional study was performed on patients with PAH who were confirmed by right heart catheterization and referred to Imam Reza PAH clinic for routine follow-up between November 2019 and January 2020.

Return to work after traumatic spinal fractures and spinal cord injuries: a retrospective cohort study.

This study aimed to determine the factors associated with return to work (RTW) after traumatic spinal fracture and spinal cord injury. It provided a predictive model for RTW among patients with spinal fractures and spinal cord injury and determined important factors influencing the time to RTW after injury. A retrospective cohort study was conducted in Poursina Tertiary Hospital, Guilan, Iran between May 2017 and May 2020.

Echocardiographic and electrocardiographic findings in COVID-19 patients: a cross-sectional study.

There are still many gaps in our knowledge regarding the direct cardiovascular injuries due to COVID-19 infection. In this study, we tried to find out the effect of SARS-CoV-2 infection on cardiac function in patients without any history of structural heart disease by electrocardiographic and echocardiographic evaluations. This was a cross-sectional study on patients with COVID-19 infection admitted to Imam Reza hospital, Mashhad, Iran between 14 April and 21 September 2020.

Aortic propagation velocity in predicting coronary artery disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Introduction: Coronary artery disease (CAD) and its outcome, myocardial infarction, is yet a significant etiology of mortality and morbidity nowadays. The aortic propagation velocity (APV) can be a simple, straightforward and novel echocardiographic index for the risk stratification in the evaluation of CAD. In this meta-analysis, we evaluated the predictive role of APV in CAD.

Long- COVID and general health status in hospitalized COVID-19 survivors.

Despite advances in clinical research, the long-term effects of COVID-19 on patients are not clear. Many studies revealed persistent long-term signs and symptoms. In a survey study, 259 hospitalized confirmed COVID-19 patients between 18 and 59 years were interviewed.

Association of polymorphisms of renin angiotensin system and endothelial nitric oxide synthase genes with premature cardiovascular disease in an Iranian population.

Introduction: The study of polymorphisms and their relationship with diseases is very important for risk assessment. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between early risk of coronary artery disease(CAD) with renin-angiotensin(RAS) genes and endothelial nitric oxide synthase(eNOS) in a sample of the Iranian population.

Methods & Materials: In this cross-sectional study, 63 patients with premature CAD and 72 healthy samples were enrolled.

Iranian traditional medicinal plants for management of chronic heart failure: A review.

Chronic heart failure is a public health problem with a high prevalence worldwide and an important topic in clinical cardiology. Despite of advances in the drug treatment strategy for heart failure, the number of deaths from this condition continues to rise. It will be a renewed focus on preventing heart failure using proven and perhaps novel drugs.

Knowledge, attitude and practice of physicians towards herbal remedies in Rasht, north of Iran.

The World Health Organization has recommended the integration of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) with modern medicine, as part of the global "health for all" approach. Herbal treatments are the most common and known methods of CAM. Based on the critical role of physicians in true and safe application of these products, this research evaluated knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of physicians in Rasht towards herbal remedies.

Trans-catheter closure of ASD and abnormal connection of left pulmonary vein to vertical vein: A case report.

Rationale: Partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection is a rare congenital anomaly in which one or more pulmonary veins are connected to the venous circulation leading to left to right heart shunt. Although correction of anomalous pulmonary venous connection is achieved through surgery, there are rare instances where the abnormal pulmonary vein has dual connection to both left atrium and the major systemic veins. Under these circumstances, catheter-based treatment might become a feasible option.

De Winter presentations and considerations: a case series.

Background: The electrocardiogram has a critical role in the diagnosis and risk assessment of patients presenting with chest pain in the emergency ward.

Case Presentation: We present 11 Iranian patients with diagnosis of de Winter referred to our center. Right coronary artery involvement was seen in four cases, left circumflex artery in three cases, proximal left anterior descending artery in two cases, and middle left anterior descending artery in seven cases.

Unroofed coronary sinus (UCS) is an uncommon congenital heart anomaly and the most unusual type of atrial septal defect. This report presents a 71-year-old female with palpitation and dyspnea following an emotional stress, who was referred for ablation of typical atrial flutter. Finally diagnosed with a partially unroofed CS causing a bidirectional shunt.

Burden in caregivers of spinal cord injury patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Caregivers of individuals with spinal cord injury encounter high levels of physical, psychosocial, and financial burden by providing lifelong assistance. In the present study, we aimed to assess the overall burden score of caregivers in spinal cord injury by pooling different standard scores together as a review.

Method: Search on databases of PubMed/Medline, Web of Science and Scopus was conducted using PRISMA guidelines.

Epidemiology of antibiotic resistance of blood culture in educational hospitals in Rasht, North of Iran.

Introduction: Septicemia is an emergency in medicine due to various dangers and lethality. In patients with septicemia, blood culture and other cultures should be done before antibiotic therapy. Determination of each isolated bacterium from blood culture and pattern of antibiotic sensitivity have an important role epidemiologically in a region and can assist physicians in the determination of primary antimicrobial agents.

Successful treatment of prosthetic pulmonary valve thrombosis with reteplase: a case report.

Pulmonary prosthetic valve thrombosis is a serious and rare complication with high mortality. Using reteplase for treatment of prosthesis thrombosis is rarely reported. We report the first case in Iran of a thrombosed pulmonary valve in a patient who had undergone repair of tetralogy of Fallot, which was successfully treated twice with intravenous thrombolytic therapy with reteplase.

Total hip arthroplasty and cardiovascular complications: a review.

Most adverse events following total hip arthroplasty (THA) are uncommon and preventable or treated easily as expected. Adverse effects related to any major surgical procedure, including anesthesia, performing with other medical problems, drugs, and allergic reactions, might also occur.
