Key steps in the route include an organocatalyzed asymmetric self-aldol reaction followed by an acetate aldol reaction to form the stereotriad present in the oxazole moiety, an intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction to form the isochromanone, and an acetylide addition and selective methylation.
