Observation: A 23-year-old female presented for routine prenatal monitoring when an orbital cyst was detected with a transabdominal ultrasound. Uncomplicated cesarean section was performed at 38 weeks gestation with proptosis of the left globe being noted on ophthalmic examination of the newborn.

To identify candidate fCNAs in neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), we integrated chromosomal microarray (CMA) and RNA-seq differential gene-expression data from 31 pancreatic (pNETs) and 33 small-bowel neuroendocrine tumors (sbNETs).

Delayed and dysfunctional adaptive immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 are associated with poor outcomes. Treatment with allogeneic SARS-CoV-2-specific CTLs may enhance cellular immunity in high-risk patients providing a safe, direct mechanism of treatment.

Juvenile ocular myasthenia gravis: a report of two cases.

We report 2 cases of pediatric ocular myasthenia gravis. The first case was a 7-year-old girl who presented with bilateral ophthalmoplegia and ptosis that correlated with the onset of upper respiratory symptoms. Neuroimaging and acetylcholine receptor antibody testing were unremarkable.

Asthma affects 25 million Americans, and recent advances in treatment are effective for only a portion of severe asthma patients. TREM-1, an innate receptor that canonically amplifies inflammatory signaling in neutrophils and monocytes, plays a central role in regulating lung inflammation. It is unknown how TREM-1 contributes to allergic asthma pathology.

However, the utility of such data for the prediction of time-to-event is unknown, and only a fraction of the data is typically used for risk prediction. Venous Free Flap with Interposition Bypass Graft for Arteriovenous Fistula Preservation: A Case Report.

Evaluating changes in firefighter urinary metabolomes after structural fires: an untargeted, high resolution approach.

Firefighters have elevated rates of urinary tract cancers and other adverse health outcomes, which may be attributable to environmental occupational exposures. Untargeted metabolomics was applied to characterize this suite of environmental exposures and biological changes in response to occupational firefighting. 200 urine samples from 100 firefighters collected at baseline and two to four hours post-fire were analyzed using untargeted liquid-chromatography and high-resolution mass spectrometry.

Multivariate longitudinal data for survival analysis of cardiovascular event prediction in young adults: insights from a comparative explainable study.

Background: Multivariate longitudinal data are under-utilized for survival analysis compared to cross-sectional data (CS - data collected once across cohort). Particularly in cardiovascular risk prediction, despite available methods of longitudinal data analysis, the value of longitudinal information has not been established in terms of improved predictive accuracy and clinical applicability.

Methods: We investigated the value of longitudinal data over and above the use of cross-sectional data via 6 distinct modeling strategies from statistics, machine learning, and deep learning that incorporate repeated measures for survival analysis of the time-to-cardiovascular event in the Coronary Artery Risk Development in Young Adults (CARDIA) cohort.

Vitamin D-mediated effects on airway innate immunity in vitro.

Introduction: Vitamin D supplementation has been suggested to enhance immunity during respiratory infection season. We tested the effect of active vitamin D (calcitriol) supplementation on key airway innate immune mechanisms in vitro.

Methods: Primary human airway epithelial cells (hAECs) grown at the air liquid interface were supplemented with 10-7 M calcitriol for 24 hours (or a time course) and their antimicrobial airway surface liquid (ASL) was tested for pH, viscoscity, and antibacterial and antiviral properties.

Novel screw-blade implant systems, combining a lag screw with a blade - the latter adding rotational stability to the femoral head - offer improvement of osseous purchase, especially in osteoporotic bone. The aim of this study was to compare biomechanically the head element (HE) anchorage of two screw-blade implant systems differing in blade orientation in the femoral head - vertical versus horizontal.

Purpose: To provide normative data of full-field electro-retinogram (ERG) responses in the pediatric population using the RETeval ERG device (LKC Technologies, Inc) in healthy children without evidence of retinal disease.

Methods: This was a single-site cross-sectional study of healthy pediatric patients with normal dilated fundus examinations and no known retinal diseases. Participants were recruited to undergo dilated full-field ERG using the handheld RETeval device.

We performed open exploration through a triangular flap extension of his oblique linear laceration for both exposure and flexor surface scar contracture prophylaxis.

The first microwave rotational spectra for two structural isomers of methylmanganese pentacarbonyl were measured in the 4-9 GHz range using a pulsed-beam Fourier transform microwave spectrometer. The spectra for the two isomers, a symmetric-top structure and an asymmetric-top acyl isomeric structure, were fit to obtain rotational and centrifugal distortion constants and Mn quadrupole coupling parameters. Background: The small bowel and pancreas are the most common primary sites of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) giving rise to metastatic disease. Some patients with small bowel NETs (SBNETs) present with synchronous or metachronous pancreatic NETs (PNETs), and it is unclear whether these are separate primaries or metastases from one site to the other.

Methods: A surgical NET database including patients undergoing operations for SBNETs or PNETs was reviewed.

Background: Splenectomy is often required in the pediatric population as part of the treatment of hematologic disorders and can be performed laparoscopically or open.
