Introduction: Within plastic surgery, a patient's most commonly used first point of information before consulting a surgeon is the internet. Free-to-use artificial intelligence (AI) websites like ChatGPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformers) are attractive applications for patient information due to their ability to instantaneously answer almost any query. Although relatively new, ChatGPT is now one of the most popular artificial intelligence conversational software tools.

Background: Etrasimod is an oral, once-daily (QD), selective sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) receptor modulator for the treatment of moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis (UC). It is known that non-serious treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) may not lead to UC drug discontinuation but can affect treatment tolerability.

Objectives: This post hoc analysis evaluated the incidence of specific, common, non-serious TEAEs reported in the etrasimod UC clinical programme and the characteristics of affected patients.

Considering the Environmental Impact of Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery.

Objective: We sought to calculate the waste generated by cleft lip and palate (CL/P) procedures and to increase awareness of the environmental impact of our speciality.

Design: Waste from 5 CL/P procedures was categorised into 5 streams and weighed. A carbon calculator tool was used to convert weight of waste in to estimated carbon emission over a 12-month period.

Objective: Dysregulation of hepatic cholesterol metabolism can contribute to elevated circulating cholesterol levels, which is a significant risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Whilst prior studies have identified many of the central regulators of these pathways, the extended supporting networks remain to be fully elucidated.

Oral decitabine/cedazuridine versus intravenous decitabine for acute myeloid leukaemia: A randomised, crossover, registration, pharmacokinetics study.

This study compared decitabine exposure when administered IV (DEC-IV) at a dose of 20 mg/m for 5-days with orally administered decitabine with cedazuridine (DEC-C), as well as the clinical efficacy and safety of DEC-C in patients with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) who were ineligible for intensive induction chemotherapy. In all, 89 patients were randomised 1:1 to DEC-IV or oral DEC-C (days 1-5 in a 28-day treatment cycle), followed by 5 days of the other formulation in the next treatment cycle. All patients received oral DEC-C for subsequent treatment cycles until treatment discontinuation.

Protocol for hybrid structured-light three-dimensional scanning and modeling of human postmortem brains.

Despite numerous neuropathological criteria for the evaluation of microscopic tissue slides, there are no systemic standards for sectioning postmortem human brain tissue. Here, we present a protocol for postmortem brain hybrid structured-light scanning to facilitate 3D printing of sectioning matrices. We describe steps for tissue preparation, 3D scanning and printing, and matrix-guided sectioning.

Topological Structures in the Space of Treatment-Naïve Patients with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.

Patients are complex and heterogeneous; clinical data sets are complicated by noise, missing data, and the presence of mixed-type data. Using such data sets requires understanding the high-dimensional "space of patients", composed of all measurements that define all relevant phenotypes. The current state-of-the-art merely defines spatial groupings of patients using cluster analyses.

Efficacy of verdinexor for the treatment of naïve canine epitheliotropic cutaneous T-cell lymphoma: An open-label pilot study.

Background: Verdinexor (Laverdia-CA1; Dechra Veterinary Products), a selective inhibitor of nuclear export, has been utilised for treatment of non-Hodgkin T-cell lymphoma in dogs. However, the efficacy of verdinexor has not been evaluated for cutaneous epitheliotropic T-cell lymphoma (CETL).

Hypothesis/objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of verdinexor for the treatment of CETL.

Staphylococcus Scalded Skin Syndrome-Induced Thrombosis Leading to Free Flap Complications: A Case Report and Review.

Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome (SSSS) is a clinical term used for a spectrum of blistering skin conditions induced by the epidermolytic toxins of the bacteria. The complications of SSSS include thrombosis; however, the pathophysiology of this is still poorly understood. We present a case of free anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap failure in a patient as a result of widespread flap thrombosis associated with staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome (SSSS).

Data Acquisition and Intraoperative Tissue Analysis on a Mobile, Battery-Operated, Orbitrap Mass Spectrometer.

Mass spectrometry has been increasingly explored in intraoperative studies as a potential technology to help guide surgical decision making. Yet, intraoperative experiments using high-performance mass spectrometry instrumentation present a unique set of operational challenges. For example, standard operating rooms are often not equipped with the electrical requirements to power a commercial mass spectrometer and are not designed to accommodate their permanent installation.

Glycosylation is the most common form of post-translational modification in the brain. Aberrant glycosylation has been observed in cerebrospinal fluid and brain tissue of Alzheimer's disease (AD) cases, including dysregulation of terminal sialic acid (SA) modifications. While alterations in sialylation have been identified in AD, the localization of SA modifications on cellular or aggregate-associated glycans is largely unknown because of limited spatial resolution of commonly utilized methods.

Burkholderia gladioli deep pyoderma in a dog secondary to immunosuppressive ciclosporin and prednisone therapy.

A dog presented with deep pyoderma on the paw, following treatment with ciclosporin and prednisone for immune-mediated haemolytic anaemia. Cytological evaluation, skin biopsy, aerobic culture, next-generation DNA sequencing and PCR were used to detect the first reported case of Burkholderia gladioli in a dog.

Importance: Surgery with complete tumor resection remains the main treatment option for patients with breast cancer. Yet, current technologies are limited in providing accurate assessment of breast tissue in vivo, warranting development of new technologies for surgical guidance.
