An interoceptive homeostatic reflex monitors levels of CO/H to maintain blood gas homeostasis and rapidly regulate tissue acid-base balance by driving lung ventilation and CO excretion-this CO-evoked increase in respiration is the hypercapnic ventilatory reflex (HCVR). Retrotrapezoid nucleus (RTN) neurons provide crucial excitatory drive to downstream respiratory rhythm/pattern-generating circuits, and their activity is directly modulated by changes in CO/H RTN neurons express GPR4 and TASK-2, global deletion of which abrogates CO/H activation of RTN neurons and the HCVR. It has not been determined if the intrinsic pH sensitivity of these proton detectors is required for these effects.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to provide basis for future design and selection of cleft palate surgery through establishing finite element model of pharyngeal cavity which was suitable for biomechanical analysis.
Methods: One patient with isolated cleft palate and 1 normal child underwent multilayer head CT examination. The scanned data of pharyngeal cavity were imported into Mimics software for a 3-D geometric model reconstruction.
G protein-coupled receptor 174 (GPR174) is mainly expressed in thymus, spleen, lymph nodes, and leukocytes, and genetic variation in GPR174 is associated with susceptibility to autoimmune diseases, indicating that GPR174 is involved in the immune response. However, the function of GPR174 in regulating inflammatory responses against bacterial infection in sepsis remains unclear. Patients were divided into the following four groups: Group 1, type 'B' tympanogram with positive DPOAE; Group 2, type 'B' tympanogram with negative DPOAE; Group 3, type 'C' tympanogram with positive DPOAE and Group 4, type 'C' tympanogram with negative DPOAE.
The purpose of the present study was to restore orbicularis oculi muscle function using the implantable artificial facial nerve system (IAFNS). The part of the IAFNS was implanted into 12 rabbits that were facially paralyzed on the right side of the face to restore the function of the orbicularis oculi muscle, which was indicated by closure of the paralyzed eye when the contralateral side was closed. Wireless communication links were established between the part (the processing chip and microelectrode) and the external part (System Controller program) of the system, which were used to set the working parameters and indicate the working state of the processing chip and microelectrode implanted in the body.
