This study detected the effects of endogenous neurotrophin-3 (NT-3) on the collateral sprouting derived from the L6 dorsal root ganglion (DRG) after unilateral removal of adjacent DRGs (L1–L5 and L7) in cats. Cholera toxin B tracing revealed significant neurite growth from the spared L6 DRG and axonal sprouting in the dorsal column. There was a significant increase in the number of NT-3 and trkC immunopositive neurons as well as in NT-3 protein level in the spared DRG by immunohistochemistry and enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent assay.

This investigation explored the role of intrinsic NGF in axonal sprouting of dorsal root ganglia (DRG) in cats subjected to unilateral removal of L1-L5, L7-S2 DRG, but leaving the L6 DRG (spared DRG) undamaged. The expression of mRNA and protein for NGF and TrkA increased significantly by using in situ hybridization histochemistry and immunohistochemistry.

Objective: To study the mechanism of rosiglitasone to improve glucose-uptake of 3T3-L1 adipocyte with insulin resistance induced by dexamethasone and insulin.
Methods: Insulin resistance was induced to 3T3-L1 adipocyte after chronic treatment of dexamethasone and insulin. The insulin resisted 3T3-L1 adipocyte was treated with 10(-5) mol/L of rosiglitasone for 48 h.

Objective: To investigate the neurotrophic effect of endogenous NT-3 from adult cat dorsal root ganglion (DRG) on ganglionic neurons.
Methods: Rhizotomy of bilateral L1, L3, L5 and L7 dorsal roots of cats was performed, leaving L2, L4 and L6 DRG as spared DRGs. The separate neurons of normal (control) DRG, spared DRG and anti-NT-3 antibody blocking DRG were cultured in vitro respectively.

Objective: To investigate the proper dynamic relationship between AVP mRNA expression in PVN and immune response.
Methods: Through the establishment of the immuno-enhancement and immunosuppression rat models, the in situ hybridization histochemical methods and the images analytical techniques were used to detect the dynamic variations of AVP mRNA content of PVN during different periods of immune response.
