Article Synopsis
  • Paeonia lactiflora 'Hangshao' is a traditional Chinese medicinal plant with valuable seed oil, but the biosynthesis of unsaturated fatty acids in its seeds is still not well understood, prompting a transcriptome analysis to uncover the molecular mechanisms involved.
  • During seed development, five main fatty acids were identified, showing varying levels of concentration, and a total of 150,156 unigenes were sequenced, with 1,480 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) detected across various growth stages related to lipid metabolism.
  • Key genes implicated in the biosynthesis of unsaturated fatty acids and oil storage were identified, including MCAT, KASIII, and FATA, with their expression

Article Synopsis
  • The study assessed the effectiveness of using the AO miniature plate system for treating unstable fractures at the metacarpophalangeal joint in a sample of 265 patients.
  • Radiological and functional evaluations showed positive outcomes, with a high fair rate (82.8%) and significant recovery of grip and pinch strength post-surgery.
  • The findings indicate that this method resulted in better functional recovery and fewer complications compared to traditional treatment methods.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers studied how growth hormone (GH) affects erections in rats after fixing their nerves with a nerve graft.
  • They tested two groups of rats: one group received GH, while the other did not, to see who had more successful erections after two and four months.
  • The results showed that the GH group had better erections after two months, but after four months, both groups performed similarly, suggesting GH helps nerves heal faster.

The molecular structures of 2-[4-chloro-2-fluoro-5-(prop-2-ynyloxy)phenyl]-1,3,4,5,6,7-hexahydroisoindole-1,3-dione, C17H13ClFNO3, (I), and the isomeric compound 2-[4-chloro-2-fluoro-5-(prop-2-ynyloxy)phenyl]-cis-1,3,3a,4,7,7a-hexahydroisoindole-1,3-dione, (II), are, as anticipated, significantly different in their conformations and in the distances between the farthest two atoms. The six-membered ring of the 1,3,4,5,6,7-hexahydroisoindole-1,3-dione moiety in (I) adopts a half-chair conformation. The dihedral angle between the five-membered dione ring of (I) and the benzene ring is 50.

Objective: To observe the changes of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) expression in the skeletal muscle after ischemia-reperfusion of hind limb in rats.

Methods: A model of hind limb ischemia was made by clamping femoral artery with a microvascular clip. Soleus muscle was obtained from the animals received sham operation, 4 h ischemia without reperfusion and 2 h, 4 h, 8 h, 16 h, 24 h reperfusion after 4 h ischemia.
