Phenol is a ubiquitous pollutant and can contaminate natural water resources. Hence, the removal of phenol from wastewater is of significant importance. A series of biological methods were used to remove phenol based on the natural ability of microorganisms to degrade phenol, but the tolerance mechanism of phenol-degraded strains to phenol are not very clear.

Failure of Hsp70 to localize to the nucleus was found in Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) erythroblasts and can induce dyserythropoiesis, with arrest of maturation and death of erythroblasts. However, the mechanism of the nuclear trafficking of Hsp70 in erythroblasts remains unknown.

In this study, we defined a set of images acquired with a certain imaging protocol as a domain, and a total of four domains (A, B, C, and T [target]) from three different scanners was included. In data set#1, 60 patients for each domain were collected.

Microbes in the pit mud produce key precursors of flavor esters. The maturation time of natural pit mud of over 20 years has promoted attempts to produce artificial pit mud (APM) with a shorter maturation time.

Current dental implant systems still have problems waiting to be addressed, and problems are centralized on the materials of implant bodies. This review aims to summarize major developments in the field of dental implant materials, starting with an overview on structures, procedures of dental implants and challenges of implant materials.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOxy-combustion is one of the most promising technologies for carbon capture and sequestration. When CO-neutral biomass is burned under oxy-combustion conditions, named "oxy-biomass combustion" a negative CO emission can be achieved. However, the high content of potassium and chlorine in biomass results in sever ash deposition and corrosion in air fired furnaces, which are further aggravated in oxy-combustion mode due to the enrichment of corrosive species by flue gas recycle.

It also has the intrinsic ability to in situ detoxify aldehydes derived from lignocellulosic hydrolysis. However, the aldehyde reductases that catalyze this bioconversion in C.

Herein, we reported that two hypothetical XYL2 genes from the multistress-tolerant yeasts of Issatchenkia orientalis and Torulaspora delbrueckii were cloned, and they encoded two XDHs, IoXyl2p and TdXyl2p, respectively, with the activities for oxidation of xylitol to xylulose. Comparative studies demonstrated that IoXyl2p and TdXyl2p, like the SsXyl2p from Scheffersomyces stipitis, were probably localized to the cytoplasm and strictly dependent on NAD rather than NADP as the cofactor for catalyzing the oxidation reaction of xylitol.

We aimed to analyze the relationship between age at diagnosis and LNM in PTC at a population level to elucidate the clinical behavior of PTC.
Methods: Data of adult patients with surgically treated PTC and follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC) were identified from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database (2004-2015) to investigate the relationship between age and clinical characteristics by curve estimation.
Electron transport layer (ETL)-free perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are attractive because they have fewer layers and hence are lower in cost, but their inferior photovoltaic performance, as compared to ETL-containing PSCs, greatly restricts their practical application. This study concerns the design and synthesis of a hydroxyethyl-functionalized imidazolium iodide ionic liquid, the determination of its single crystal structure, and its self-assembly on a conductive substrate for ETL-free PSCs. The self-assembly of the ionic liquid on the conductive substrate is found to lower the work function of the conductive substrate and enhance interfacial electron extraction while retarding interfacial charge recombination.

In this work, we investigated the physiological and biochemical mechanisms of isoliquiritigenin on lettuce seedlings. The results show that isoliquiritigenin has a concentration-dependent inhibitory effect on radicle elongation of lettuce seedlings, but no significant impact on lettuce germination.

Materials And Methods: Sound dentine, three resin composites as well as a resin-based cement were prepared into cylindrical specimens (n = 8). A bulk compressive creep test was applied with a constant load of 300 N (23.
Rationale And Objectives: We assess the performance of a model combining a deep convolutional neural network and a hand-crafted radiomics signature for predicting KRAS status in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC).
Materials And Methods: The primary cohort consisted of 279 patients with clinicopathologically confirmed CRC between April 2011 and April 2015. Portal venous phase computed tomographic images were analyzed to extract traditional hand-crafted radiomics features as well as deep learning features.

Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common malignant tumors of the digestive system. A deeper understanding of the mechanism of proliferation and metastasis is needed to improve patient survival. T cell lymphoma invasion and metastasis 1 (TIAM1) has been proven to play an essential role in the proliferation and metastasis of GC.

Materials And Methods: A total of 348 breast cancer patients were enrolled in this study, with their SLN metastases pathologically confirmed. All patients received contrast-enhanced CT preoperative examinations and CT images were segmented and analyzed to extract deep features.
Purpose: This study aimed to develop and validate a nomogram for predicting the malignancy of small (8-20 mm) solid indeterminate solitary pulmonary nodules (SPNs) in a Chinese population by using routine clinical and computed tomography data.
Methods: The prediction model was developed using a retrospective cohort that comprised 493 consecutive patients with small indeterminate SPNs who were treated between December 2012 and December 2016. The model was independently validated using a second retrospective cohort comprising 216 consecutive patients treated between January 2017 and May 2018.
In East and Southeast Asia, the health of over 100 million people is threatened by the consumption of groundwater containing high concentrations of arsenic (>10 μg L), which is released from sediments through reductive dissolution of arsenic-bearing iron/manganese oxides. Dissolved organic matter (DOM) is known to play a crucial role in the process of arsenic mobilization in shallow aquifers, and its availability and reactivity are key factors controlling the variation of arsenic concentrations in groundwater. However, it is unclear how human activities influence the transport of DOM and how the transportation affects the DOM molecular properties in high arsenic groundwater.
