It is generally accepted that ATP regulates mitochondrial function through the AMPK signaling pathway. However, the AMPK-independent pathway remains largely unknown. In this study, we investigated ATP surplus in the negative regulation of mitochondrial function with a focus on pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH) phosphorylation and protein acetylation.

Aims: To investigate whether the Luminex xMAP(®) Salmonella Serotyping Assay (xMAP SSA) is applicable to serotype Salmonella from humans in southern China.

Methods And Results: Two hundred and five Salmonella isolates from diarrhoea patients were serotyped by xMAP SSA in parallel with the traditional serotyping. Forty serotypes were identified among 205 isolates; the most prevalent serotypes identified were Salmonella Enteritidis, Salmonella Stanley, Salmonella I 4,5,12:i:-, and Salmonella Typhimurium.

We report the first measurement of absolute hadronic branching fractions of Λ_{c}^{+} baryon at the Λ_{c}^{+}Λ[over ¯]_{c}^{-} production threshold, in the 30 years since the Λ_{c}^{+} discovery. In total, 12 Cabibbo-favored Λ_{c}^{+} hadronic decay modes are analyzed with a double-tag technique, based on a sample of 567  pb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} collisions at sqrt[s]=4.599  GeV recorded with the BESIII detector.

We present a measurement of the azimuthal asymmetries of two charged pions in the inclusive process e^{+}e^{-}→ππX, based on a data set of 62  pb^{-1} at the center-of-mass energy of 3.65 GeV collected with the BESIII detector. These asymmetries can be attributed to the Collins fragmentation function.

The co-delivery of drug and gene has become the primary strategy in cancer therapy. However, to construct one safe co-delivering system with higher drug loading and gene transfection efficiency for cancer therapy is still challenging. Herein, a novel degradable nanocarriers were synthesized and characterized in this study, which was composed of polyethylenimine (PEI)-linked PEO-PPO-PEO (Pluronic F127), called F127-PEI.

A new class of hole-transport materials (HTMs) based on the bimesitylene core designed for mesoporous perovskite solar cells is introduced. Devices fabricated using two of these derivatives yield higher open-circuit voltage values than the commonly used spiro-OMeTAD. Power conversion efficiency (PCE) values of up to 12.

A novel environment-sensitive probe S2 with turn-on switch for Human Ether-a-go-go-Related Gene (hERG) potassium channel was developed herein. After careful evaluation, this fluorescent probe showed high binding affinity with hERG potassium channel with an IC50 value of 41.65 nM and can be well applied to hERG channel imaging or cellular distribution study for hERG channel blockers.

Considering that hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is an endogenous signaling molecule involved in numerous biological processes, a method for monitoring H2S as a powerful tool for investigating its complicated functions and mechanisms is urgently demanded. Herein, a bioluminescent turn-on probe was reported based on caged strategy for the detection of H2S in vitro and in vivo. This probe will help us understand the intricate contribution of H2S to a variety of physiological and pathological processes.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) caused by renal fibrosis is an important public health concern. It is therefore necessary to understand the molecular pathogenesis of renal fibrosis in order to develop novel therapeutic strategies. KLF4 is the most extensively studied factor among the various members of the Krüppel-like factor (KLF) family of zinc finger-containing transcription factors.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the therapeutic efficacy of fibroblast growth factor 10 (FGF10) in the promotion of healing, survival and expression of mucin in corneal epithelial cells in a rabbit dry eye model. A total of 12 healthy female New Zealand white rabbits were divided randomly into three groups. The lacrimal glands were injected with saline either alone (normal control group) or with concanavalin A (Con A), with either topical phosphate‑buffered saline (PBS; PBS control group) or 25 µg/ml FGF10 (FGF10 treatment group).

Article Synopsis
  • A new neutral state, Z_{c}(3900)^{0}, has been observed with a significance of 10.4σ using data from the BESIII detector.
  • The measured mass is 3894.8±2.3±3.2 MeV/c^{2} and the width is 29.6±8.2±8.2 MeV, with errors indicating statistical and systematic uncertainties.
  • This state is thought to be the neutral counterpart of the four-quark candidate Z_{c}(3900)^{±}, and its production in e^{+}e^{-} collisions has been analyzed at specific energy ranges.

Two rapid bioluminescent probes for the detection of fluoride ion were developed on the basis of F-Si bond formation herein. It should be noted that probe 1 exhibited highly selective and sensitive detection toward fluoride ion over other anions and has been successfully applied in imaging fluoride ion in both living cells and animals.

Background: Hyperpolarization-activated, cyclic nucleotide-gated (HCN) subtype 1 (HCN1) channels have been identified as targets of ketamine to produce hypnosis. Volatile anesthetics also inhibit HCN1 channels. However, the effects of HCN1 channels on volatile anesthetics in vivo are still elusive.

G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) constitute the largest known superfamily for signal transduction and transmission, and they control a variety of physiological and pathological processes. GPCR adaptor β-arrestins (ARRBs) play a role in cancerous proliferation. However, the effect of ARRBs in inflammation-mediated hepatocellular carcinogenesis is unknown.

The transcription factor nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) mediates inflammation and stress signals in cells. To test NF-κB in the control of hepatic insulin sensitivity, we inactivated NF-κB in the livers of C57BL/6 mice through deletion of the p65 gene, which was achieved by crossing floxed-p65 and Alb-cre mice to generate L-p65-knockout (KO) mice. KO mice did not exhibit any alterations in growth, reproduction, and body weight while on a chow diet.
