Zirconia- and hafnia-based thin films have attracted tremendous attention in the past decade because of their unexpected ferroelectric behavior at the nanoscale, which enables the downscaling of ferroelectric devices. The present work reports an unprecedented ferroelectric rhombohedral phase of ZrO that can be achieved in thin films grown directly on (111)-Nb:SrTiO substrates by ion-beam sputtering. Structural and ferroelectric characterizations reveal (111)-oriented ZrO films under epitaxial compressive strain exhibiting switchable ferroelectric polarization of about 20.

In this work, sensing and photocatalytic activities of green synthesized silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) are investigated. Ag NPs have been synthesized by the reduction of silver nitrate (AgNO) using different leaf extracts. An optimum surface plasmon resonance (SPR) behavior is obtained for neem leaf extracts because of the presence of a high concentration of diterpenoids, as evidenced from gas chromatography mass spectroscopy results.

In this work, we proposed an efficient heterostructure photocatalyst by integrating the ferroelectric BaTiO (BTO) layer with the semiconductor MoO layer, availing the ferroelectric polarization of BaTiO and high generation of photoinduced charge carriers in the MoO layer. The effect of MoO layer thickness () on the photocatalytic efficiency of the BTO/MoO heterostructures is found to be optimum at = 67 nm as varies from 40 to 800 nm. The BTO/MoO heterostructure with = 67 nm exhibits a high efficiency of 86% for the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) under the exposure of UV-visible light for 60 min.

An enhanced resistive switching (RS) effect is observed in Pt/BaTiO(BTO)/ITO ferroelectric structures when a thin HfO:AlO (HAO) dielectric layer is inserted between Pt and BTO. The P-E hysteresis loops reveal the ferroelectric nature of both Pt/BTO/ITO and Pt/HAO/BTO/ITO structures. The relation between the RS and the polarization reversal is investigated at various temperatures in the Pt/HAO/BTO/ITO structure.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the mechanical properties of beryllium-free nickel-chromium (Ni-Cr) dental casting alloy before and after each porcelain firing cycle (once fired, twice fired, and thrice fired) and to relate these properties to the microstructural changes and changes in X-ray diffraction patterns of Ni-Cr alloy that occur after each porcelain firing cycle.

Material And Methods: Forty tensile bar specimens and 20 disc-shaped specimens of Ni-Cr alloy were prepared. These specimens were divided into four groups.

John Scott Haldane was a versatile genius who solved several problems of great practical significance. His ability to look beyond the laboratory and investigate theory added crucial findings in the field of respiratory physiology. His work on high altitude physiology, diving physiology, oxygen therapy, and carbon monoxide poisoning led to a sea change in clinical medicine and improved safety and reduced mortality and morbidity in many high risk situations.

Owing to the promising antiviral activity of amino acid ester-substituted phosphorylated nucleosides in the present study, a series of phosphorylated derivatives of emtricitabine and didanosine substituted with bioactive amino acid esters at P-atom were synthesized. Initially, molecular docking studies were screened to predict their molecular interactions with hemagglutinin-neuraminidase protein of Newcastle disease virus and E2 protein of human papillomavirus. The title compounds were screened for their antiviral ability against Newcastle disease virus (NDV) by their in ovo study in embryonated chicken eggs.

Differently expressed proteins in probiotic Escherichia coli nissle 1917 under mercury stress identified by using a proteomic approach. We applied to separate proteins by using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and proteins were identified using MALDI-TOF-MS using PMF, by mascot database search using the NCBI database. we identified six proteins after exposure to mercury stress with respect to different functional classes.

A new class of biologically active 13-membered phosphorus-macroheterocycles (6a-l) were conveniently synthesized from 1,2-bis(salicylidene amino)-phenylene (1), by treating with phosporusoxychloride (3) and followed by reacting with various aromatic thiols and amines (5f-l) in one path, and in another path 1 was directly treated with various phosphorodichloridates (2a-e) in the presence of triethylamine at 0-10°C under N(2) atmosphere in THF. All the title compounds were confirmed by analytical and spectral data (IR, (1) H-, (13) C-, (31) P-NMR, and mass spectra) and screened for anti-oxidant activity. Among these compounds, 6k, 6e, and 6l containing nitro, fluoro, and chloro groups as substituents on the phenyl ring exhibited high anti-oxidant activity with effective inhibitory concentration (IC(50) ) values.

Background: Most psychiatric illnesses have a chronic relapsing course. It is estimated that the readmission rate for discharged patients is approximately 40-50% within one year of their discharge from the hospital. The current emphasis in mental health service is on brief hospitalization and providing community-based services.

The composite films of ferroelectric potassium nitrate (KNO3):poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) with different weight percentages of KNO3 have been prepared at 200 degrees C using the spray-deposition technique. The remanent polarization (Pr) and peak current density for all composite films was estimated by tracing the polarization-electric field (P-E) hysteresis loop and current density-electric field (J-E) loop, respectively, using a modified Sawyer-Tower circuit. Pure KNO3 is known not to exhibit any ferroelectricity under ambient conditions, but the X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies of PVA:KNO3 composite films reveal the presence of a ferroelectric phase III of KNO3 in the composite films at room temperature.

This article describes buccal permeation of chlorpheniramine maleate (CPM) and its transbuccal delivery using mucoadhesive buccal patches. Permeation of CPM was calculated in vitro using porcine buccal membrane and in vivo in healthy humans. Buccal formulations were developed with hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC) and evaluated for in vitro release, moisture absorption, mechanical properties, and bioadhesion, and optimized formulation was subjected for bioavailability studies in healthy human volunteers.
