Assessing the risk factors for surgical site infections after anal reconstruction surgery in patients with anorectal malformations: a retrospective analysis.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify surgical site infection (SSI) risk factors after anal reconstruction surgery in patients with anorectal malformations (ARMs).

Methods: This retrospective analysis from January 2013 to December 2022, including all pediatric surgical facilities in Hokkaido, Japan, examined consecutive patients with ARMs, excluding cloacal cases, regarding perioperative and SSI factors during their initial anal reconstruction surgeries.

Results: This study involved 157 cases of major clinical groups and 7 cases of rare/regional variants, among whom 4% developed SSIs.

Introduction: Hepatoblastoma (HB) is the most common paediatric liver tumour, and epigenetic aberrations may be important in HB development. Recently, the Children's Hepatic Tumors International Collaboration-Hepatoblastoma Stratification (CHIC-HS) developed risk stratification based on clinicopathological factors. This study aimed to construct a more accurate model by integrating CHIC-HS with molecular factors based on DNA methylation.

[A Case of Advanced Breast Cancer in an Elderly Patient That Was Well Controlled by Mohs' Paste, Endocrine Therapy, and Denosumab].

We report a case of advanced left breast cancer with continuous bleeding from the primary tumor surface in an 81-year-old woman. Pathological findings showed invasive carcinoma with positive expression of hormone receptors. CT and bone scintigraphy showed primary tumor invasion of the greater pectoral muscle and multiple bone metastases.

[Investigation of Colorectal Cancer Cases among Patients Aged over 75 Years Who Received Postoperative Adjuvant Chemotherapy].

Background: As the aging of the Japanese population progresses, the administration of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy( AC)to the elderly is also expected to increase.

Objective: To examine the characteristics of AC in cases of colorectal cancer among elderly people aged over 75 years.

Patients: Forty-eight cases of colorectal cancer patients who received AC.

A staged operation for anopenile urethral fistula.

Anopenile urethral fistula (APUF) is not rare, but there are only a few detailed reports regarding its surgical treatment. We describe a patient with APUF who had no anal opening, and meconium was discharged from the external urethral orifice. The patient was treated with a staged operation.

NK/T-cell lymphoma of bilateral adrenal glands in a patient with pyothorax.

Primary lymphoma of adrenal glands is rare, and non-B-cell lymphoma associated with pyothorax is also very rare. Here we report the first autopsy case of non-B-cell lymphoma in bilateral adrenal glands of a 79-year-old woman with pyothorax who had an aggressive clinical course. Immunohistochemically, tumor cells showed CD3+, CD45RO+, CD5-, CD7-, CD4-, CD8-, CD10-, CD20-, CD30-, CD79a-, CD138-, CD56-, granzyme B-, TIA-1+ and ALK-.
