Hand eczema (HE) is a common skin disease that impairs health-related quality of life (HRQOL). Impairments in HRQOL have already been reported in Japanese HE patients using the Skindex-16. Hereditary 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D-resistant rickets (HVDRR) is caused by mutations in the gene, and its inheritance is autosomal recessive. In this report, we aimed to confirm whether HVDRR is occasionally inherited as a dominant trait. An 18-month-old Japanese boy was evaluated for short stature and bowlegs.

The incidence of vitamin K deficiency in infancy has decreased markedly, due to prophylactic administration of vitamin K during the neonatal period. However, vitamin K deficiency bleeding may occur during or after the neonatal period despite prophylactic administration in Japan. Two cases are reported of intracranial hemorrhage associated with coagulopathy in full-term infants who had received prophylactic administration of vitamin K.
