Background: We investigated and compared the osteogenic potential and bone regeneration capacities of dedifferentiated fat cells (DFAT cells) and adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs).

Method: We isolated DFAT cells and ASCs from GFP mice. DFAT cells were established by a new culture method using a mesh culture instead of a ceiling culture.

Rapid occurrence of left ventricular thrombus associated with platinum-based chemotherapy plus cetuximab for the treatment of metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck: A case report.

Platinum-based chemotherapy plus cetuximab represents the first-line treatment for recurrent or metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck. The most common adverse events associated with cetuximab are infusion reactions and skin reactions, and a risk of venous thromboembolic events has also recently been reported in association with cetuximab. It is well known that thrombosis is a common complication of malignancy, and represents the second most frequent cause of mortality in cancer patients.

Persistent hypoglossal artery with hypoplasia of the vertebral and posterior communicating arteries.

We observed a rare case of the right persistent hypoglossal artery (PHA) in the posterior cranial fossa of a deceased 74-year-old Japanese man who did not have any clinical manifestations related to this anomaly when alive. The large-sized PHA originating from the cervical internal carotid artery passed through the hypoglossal canal together with the hypoglossal nerve and reached the posterior cranial fossa to anastomose the basilar artery. In addition, the ipsilateral vertebral artery and bilateral posterior communicating arteries were hypoplastic.
