Purpose: Displacement minimization of seeds is crucial during surgery in brachytherapy; however, only a few reports have compared the operability of different seeds. TheraStrand-SL is a seed, in which TheraAGX100 is wrapped in polyglactin 910 thread, and intra-prostatic displacement is expected to be reduced compared with that of Thera-AGX100, owing to the complex shape of TheraStrand-SL. We conducted a prospective study on the operability and treatment outcomes of TheraAGX100 and TheraStrand-SL placement by a single operator.

Here, we report a case of suspected IgG4-related periaortitis in a 76-year-old man with lower left-side chest pain and hypertension based on computed tomography findings of thickened lesions surrounding the abdominal aorta and mesenteric arteries after ruling out acute cardiovascular diseases. His serum IgG4 levels were high, but the C-reactive protein and D-dimer levels were within normal limits.

In this retrospective study, we compared the efficacy of first-line molecular targeted therapy (MTT), administered as monotherapy, and IO combination therapy using real-world data of Japanese patients.
Patients And Methods: The clinical information of 202 patients with RCC who received MTT (n=144) or IO combination therapy (n=58) at the Kurume University Hospital from May 2008 to May 2022 was collected and retrospectively analyzed.
Purpose: To evaluate the oncological outcomes and genitourinary and gastrointestinal adverse events in acute and late-phases of iodine-125 low-dose-rate brachytherapy for localized prostate cancer.
Material And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 334 patients treated for localized prostate cancer with low-dose-rate brachytherapy. Bio-chemical relapse-free survival, cause-specific survival, and overall survival were evaluated using Kaplan-Meier method and log-rank test.
To analyze the risks and survival outcomes of non-definitive therapy (nDT) for muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC), which may provide useful information for future treatment selection, the present study analyzed 124 patients who were diagnosed with MIBC (cT2-4aN1-2M0) and treated at Kurume University Hospital (Kurume, Japan) with definitive therapy (DT; including radical cystectomy and trimodal therapy) or nDT [transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) monotherapy or TURBT plus chemotherapy]. Differences in survival outcomes between the two groups were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method and analyzed using the log-rank test. Cox proportional hazards regression models were used for multivariate analysis of each survival outcome.

The present study examined the association between the incidence of immune-related adverse events and survival outcomes in patients treated with nivolumab plus ipilimumab for patients with advanced renal cell carcinoma. In addition, we compared the effect of adverse event profiles on survival for patients receiving nivolumab plus ipilimumab.

A total of 26 patients with primary unresectable RCC with synchronous distant metastasis underwent molecularly targeted therapies at the Kurume University Hospital (Kurume, Japan) between March 2008 and March 2016. Early primary renal tumor response was evaluated at 8-12 weeks after the introduction of molecularly targeted therapy and a 10% decrease in the diameter of primary renal tumor was used as the cut-off value.

However, there are no reports on spontaneous regression of unclassified RCC. Since the radiological findings of pulmonary infarcts and inflammatory pseudotumors are similar to those of metastases from RCC, a definitive diagnosis is difficult without performing a histological examination.

Responses to targeted therapy within the primary tumor and metastatic lesions are novel findings not seen with immunotherapeutic-based strategies. We report here a case of T4 RCC in which cytoreductive nephrectomy became possible after a neoadjuvant targeted therapy using sunitinib.
