Background: Factors involved in neck lymph node metastasis (NLM) and prognosis of early tongue squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) remain unknown.

Methods: We analyzed disease-specific survival (DSS) and NLM including tumor budding grade (TBG) among 64 patients with cT1/2N0 tongue SCC.

Results: Univariate analysis of DSS of primary lesions uncovered significant differences in new cT, pT, new pT, pDiameter, venous infiltration, and TBG.

Objectives: The objectives were to determine the prevalence of human papillomavirus (HPV) in mobile tongue cancer (MTC) and evaluate associations and survival.

Materials And Methods: Patients who underwent surgical resection as primary treatment for MTC (n = 127) were retrospectively evaluated. Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) specimens were assessed for p16 and p53 by immunohistochemistry; for HPV DNA by nested multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using two pairs of consensus primers (MY09-MY11 and GP5+-GP6+); and for E6 and E7 oncogenes from 13 high-risk HPV types (16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66, and 68) by real-time reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR).

Hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (HPSCC) is an aggressive disease with poor prognosis; but has no established biomarkers on the order of human papilloma virus and p16 in oropharyngeal carcinoma. This study investigated pre-treatment serum markers, including the combination of platelet count and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (COP-NLR) as a prognosis predictor in patients with HPSCC treated in our hospital. Solitary fibrous tumors (SFT) are uncommon neoplasm that arises in most cases from the pleura. SFT has been rarely observed in the head and neck, but SFT of the paranasal sinuses is especially rare, with 39 previously reported cases to date including those reported in this abstract. Mohs' chemosurgery, originally developed to treat skin cancer, uses zinc chloride in Mohs' ointment to fix tissues, and is applicable in different clinical settings. In advanced head and neck cancer, Mohs' chemosurgery relieves main skin-infiltration symptoms such as bleeding, infection, exudation, and severe pain. Mohs' chemosurgery conducted in two cases of advanced head and neck cancer yielded an acceptable result free of bleeding, pain, exudation, and infection.

The spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg model with the pair XYZ Heisenberg interaction and quartic Ising interactions is exactly solved by establishing a precise mapping relationship with the corresponding zero-field (symmetric) eight-vertex model. It is shown that the Ising-Heisenberg model with the ferromagnetic Heisenberg interaction exhibits a striking critical behavior, which manifests itself through re-entrant phase transitions as well as continuously varying critical exponents. The changes in critical exponents are in accordance with the weak universality hypothesis in spite of a peculiar singular behavior that emerges at a quantum critical point of the infinite order, which occurs at the isotropic limit of the Heisenberg interaction.
