Generalized Vascular Dissection on Pathological Examination in a Patient With Polycystic Kidney Disease and Acute Aortic Dissection.

Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a multiple cystic disease involving both the kidneys. Some studies have reported cases of patients with PKD and concurrent aortic dissection; however, autopsy has been performed in only few of these cases. Here, we present the case of a 62-year-old male patient with PKD who showed generalized vascular degeneration, including aortic dissection.

Temporal analysis of regional strain rate during adenosine triphosphate stress before and after percutaneous coronary interventions.

Regional myocardial ischemia is thought to be characterized by diastolic dysfunction. We aimed to clarify whether temporal analysis of strain rate (SR) index derived from two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography (2DTE) can assess the regional myocardial ischemia or not. Forty-two patients with significant coronary stenoses were referred for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Time-dependent variation in coronary flow velocity reserve induced by adenosine triphosphate: comparison to low-dose dipyridamole.

Background: Measuring the coronary flow velocity reserve (CFVR) by transthoracic Doppler echocardiography (TTDE) has been widely performed using adenosine. Although adenosine infusion is known to induce transient variation of hyperemia, the timing to measure the CFVR has not been well addressed. Therefore, we aimed to clarify the difference between the peak CFVR and at 2 min following adenosine triphosphate (ATP) infusion compared to the CFVR after low-dose dipyridamole infusion.
