Current medical healthcare has no sufficient innovative drug delivery formulations for treating patients with alveolar osteitis. This study presents a portion of research conducted to design, fabricate, and characterize systems for the treatment of alveolar osteitis. The results demonstrate that intra-alveolar formulations can be designed to function as drug carriers, facilitate wound dressing, and promote tissue regeneration.

Today, silicone is commonly used in medicine and the diversity of its applications are continually growing. The aim of this study is to evaluate the mucoadhesiveness of polymeric membranes by a method that modifies the existing test methods through the introduction of silicone discs.

Amoxicillin concentration was determined spectrophotometrically at 272 nm. The process of the PDGF-BB growth factor and amoxicillin release from the studied membranes was of a two-phase nature in the majority of the systems analysed.

Chitosan has been already shown to serve as vehicle for sustained drug release by chitosan-vanadium(IV) complex from a chitosan gel matrix. Therefore, chitosan gel proved to retain vanadium and preserve its insulin-mimetic efficacy.

The quality of the produced tablets was determined by examining their appearance, diameter, thickness, mass resistance to abrasion, crushing and disintegration time.

Dressings of this type should be made of special biodegradable polymeric materials which are good promoters of absorption of the active substances and characterized by good sorption properties. The paper presents preliminary studies related to the development composite films produced on the basis of biopolymers--chitosan and sodium alginate, with the participation of anti-inflammatory product.

This biopolymer due to its biodegradability and safety in application no cytotoxic or immune interaction was assessed as a very effective haemostatic factor. MCCh with such properties form useful initial material for biological bandages; it can be used in surgery as growth factor carrier.

This study aims at investigating the usefulness of selected high-molecular substances with particular consideration of chitosan (Ch), silicified microcrystalline cellulose (Prosolv) and croscarmellose sodium (Vivasol) as a carrier of E. parviflorum Schreb.

The solubility of IBA in water increased significantly (about 10-fold) when MCCh was added. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), powder X-ray diffractometry, and IR spectroscopy were used to confirm that salt links between the drug and MCCh occurred.
