Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the immune response of kuruma prawns to lipopolysaccharides (LPS), identifying a specific gene (M-ALF) that helps regulate this response.
  • M-ALF, which has similarities to immune proteins found in horseshoe crabs and is capable of binding to LPS, was found to express more in response to LPS in various tissues of the prawns.
  • The findings suggest that M-ALF plays a critical role in helping prawns manage their immune response during infections, particularly enhancing activity in the early acute phase.
