The Novel Gabapentinoid Mirogabalin Prevents Upregulation of α2δ-1 Subunit of Voltage-Gated Calcium Channels in Spinal Dorsal Horn in a Rat Model of Spinal Nerve Ligation.

Gabapentinoids are specific ligands for the αδ-1 subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels. This class of drugs, including gabapentin and pregabalin, exert various pharmacological effects and are widely used for the treatment of epilepsy, anxiety, and chronic pain. The mechanism of action of gabapentinoids involves both direct modulation of calcium channel kinetics and inhibition of channel trafficking and expression, which contribute to the above pharmacological effects.

Urothelial hyperplasia with calculi (papillomatosis) in the urinary bladder of a male spontaneous diabetic Torii rat.

A 40-week-old male spontaneous diabetic Torii rat, an animal model of type 2 diabetes mellitus, was found to have marked urinary calculi with hematuria in the urinary bladder on necropsy. Histological findings in the urinary bladder included a papillary growth pattern with a fibrovascular stroma without atypia. Fine granular materials in the bladder lumen were positive for Von Kossa staining but negative for periodic acid-Schiff or Gram staining, indicating no apparent bacterial infection in the urinary bladder.

Application of a three-microneedle device for the delivery of local anesthetics.

Purpose: We investigated the effectiveness of a newly developed device for the delivery of local anesthetics in the treatment of axillary osmidrosis and hyperhidrosis. We developed a device with three fine, stainless steel needles fabricated with a bevel angle facing outside ("three-microneedle device" [TMD]) to release a drug broadly and homogeneously into tissue in the horizontal plane. Use of this device could reduce the risk of complications when transcutaneous injections are undertaken.

[Wide resection of chest wall for intramuscular lipoma in serratus anterior muscle reconstructed by autologous tissue;report of a case].

A 60-years-old man with a right lateral chest wall mass visited our hospital. There was a mass of 50×45 mm on the 5th rib. The mild atypical cells were detected by the percutaneous needle biopsy, and the tumor was resected with the chest wall of which detect was reconstructed with fascia lata and latissimus dorsi muscle cutaneous flap.

Reconstruction for extensive groin hidradenitis suppurativa using a combination of inferior abdominal flap and medial thigh-lift: a case report.

Unlabelled: Various methods for reconstructing hidradenitis suppurativa of the groin have been reported. However, it is difficult to attain favorable results both aesthetically and functionally. This report describes a case in which a defect was reconstructed using a combination of inferior abdominal flap and medial thigh-lift after radical excision of extensive groin hidradenitis suppurativa.

Delayed distally based sural flap with temporary venous supercharging.

The distally based sural flap has become popular for reconstruction of the foot and leg. However, this flap often fails due to venous congestion. In this report, we developed a new modification of the distally based sural flap.

Molecular characterization and expression of the low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein-10, a new member of the LDLR gene family.

We report the characterization of a new member of the low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) gene family designated LRP10. Human LRP10 cDNA encodes a 1905 amino acid type I membrane protein consisting of five functional domains characteristic of the LDLR gene family. CHO-ldlA7 cells transfected with human LRP10 cDNA bound LDLR-associated protein, but not beta-VLDL and HDL.

Relationship between GST Yp induction and hepatocyte proliferation in rats treated with phase II drug metabolizing enzyme inducers.

Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and 1,2-bis(2-pyridyl)ethylene (2PY-e) are phase II drug metabolizing enzyme inducers which cause hepatomegaly without hepatocyte hypertrophy and induce glutathione S-transferase Yp (GST Yp, pi-class GST), which is known as a tumor marker. To evaluate the relationship between GST Yp induction and hepatocyte proliferation, male F344/DuCrj rats were treated with BHA, 2PY-e, or phenobarbital (PB) for three or seven days. All three chemicals caused increases in liver weight after three and seven days.
