This study was planned to assess and compare the effectiveness of cervical and scapulothoracic stabilization exercise treatment with and without connective tissue massage (CTM) on pain, anxiety, and the quality of life in patients with chronic mechanical neck pain (MNP). Sixty patients with chronic MNP (18-65 years) were recruited and randomly allocated into stabilization exercise with (Group 1, n = 30) and without the CTM (Group 2, n = 30). The program was carried out for 12 sessions, 3 days/week in 4 weeks.

Objective: GuideLiner catheter provides adequate back-up support and a coaxial guide engagement for stent delivery in complex coronary anatomies. In this study, we aimed to present one of the largest series of experience with GuideLiner catheter utilized for challenging percutaneous coronary interventions in two centers.

Methods: We retrospectively collected the coronary angiography records of 64 patients between January 1, 2012 and August 1, 2014 in whom conventional techniques failed for stent delivery and 5-in-6 Fr GuideLiner catheter was used for this purpose.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate how strongly the concentric and eccentric quadriceps strengths were correlated with the joint position sense, functional outcomes and painful activities in patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS).

Methods: The study included forty-six women diagnosed with unilateral PFPS. Eccentric and concentric quadriceps strengths were recorded at 60 and 180°/s.

Sludges originating from water resource recovery facilities act as a sink for various contaminants including polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Investigation of such pollutants provides detailed information about the pollutant burden of the region from which incoming wastewater is derived. However, the current extraction methods for PCBs in wastewater and sludge are both time- and solvent-consuming.

It is somewhat unexpected to have headaches in patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (INPH) for which the treatment is drainage of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) using shunt. Moreover, intracranial hypotension syndrome (IHS) can be a challenging diagnosis, as CSF leak may be difficult to confirm as imaging findings can be normal. This report describes a woman with INPH who developed symptoms of IHS after a spinal tap test.

Objective: To identify microRNAs (miRNAs) regulated by anti-α4 integrin monoclonal antibody therapy (natalizumab) in the peripheral blood of patients with relapsing-remitting (RR) multiple sclerosis (MS) and to confirm their role in experimental settings in vivo.

Methods: In a longitudinal study of 17 RR-MS patients, we investigated blood miRNA expression profiles at baseline and after 1 year of natalizumab therapy by microarray technique and quantitative PCR validation. We compared the baseline expression profiles of these patients to those of 18 age- and sex-matched healthy controls.

Background: QRS fragmentation (fQRS) and QRS distortion were separately shown to be related to increased cardiovascular mortality and morbidity. To our knowledge, no study so far evaluated both parameters together in ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The main goal of our study is to find out if fQRS and QRS distortion can help us to determine high-risk STEMI patients, and the success of reperfusion.

Ventricular septal defect (VSD) is a rare complication of transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) via the transfemoral approach. Aetiological factors leading to VSD have been reported as post-balloon dilatation, oversized prosthesis implantation, and severe calcification of the aorta. However, we present a case of VSD occurring after TAVI with an Edwards Sapien XT prosthesis without any distinct aetiological factors.

Long-acting GnRH agonists have been used both for canine estrus induction and prevention. The objective of the study was to investigate the use of a deslorelin implant as a long-term and reversible contraceptive in prepubertal bitches with special regard to the time of epiphyseal closure. Thirteen healthy, crossbreed, medium-sized prepubertal female dogs were used in this study.

In the present study, 13 clinical cases of canine mammary adenocarcinoma were evaluated in order to understand the effect of Tarantula cubensis extract (TCE) on tumor tissue. Punch biopsies were taken from the tumors before treatment with TCE. Subcutaneous injections of TCE were administered three times at weekly intervals (3 mL per dog).

Background: This study was intended to investigate the healing properties of open and percutaneous techniques in a rabbit model and compare histological, electron microscopical, and biomechanical findings of the healed tendon between the groups.

Methods: Twenty-six rabbits were randomly assigned to two groups of thirteen rabbits each. Percutaneous tenotomy of the Achilles tendon (AT) was applied through a stab incision on the right side 1.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate changes in the endometrium by using echotexture parameters during and after treatment of endometritis with intrauterine administration of an intrauterine antiseptic solution (Lotagen®, 3% metacresolsulphonic acid and formaldehyde) in cows which became pregnant after treatment.

Material And Methods: According to the severity of endometritis 21 cows were divided into three groups: E1 (slight, n = 7), E2 (moderate, n = 8), E3 (severe, n = 6). The control group (C, n = 11) consisted of cows without endometritis that did not receive an intrauterine medication.

Pre-pubertal gonadectomy in dogs and cats is still controversially discussed because some consequences cause health problems. Nevertheless, postponement of puberty, that is, prevention of an increase in sexual hormones and thereby prevention of their manifold effects, is of major importance, not only in controlling overpopulation but also to preserve the genetic base for future breeding stock and pets. Therefore, alternatives for surgical suppression of fertility in pre-pubertal animals were critically reviewed.

This study was designed to assess endocrine changes associated with termination of mid-term pregnancy after use of two different protocols. For this purpose we compared the effects of aglepristone (AGL) alone and in combination with cloprostenol (CLO) on serum concentrations of progesterone (P4), estradiol (E2) and relaxin (RLN) measured at short-term intervals during the abortion period in bitches. Fourteen pregnant bitches between day 25 and 32 of gestation were used in the study.
