Article Synopsis
  • Myocarditis has been noted as a rare side effect of COVID-19 mRNA vaccines, with an increasing number of reported cases.
  • A specific case study highlights a man who developed myocarditis after vaccination, diagnosed through cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI), which showed typical signs of the condition.
  • Follow-up six months later indicated improvement in his heart condition, demonstrating that CMRI is an effective non-invasive tool for diagnosing and monitoring myocarditis in these scenarios.

Article Synopsis
  • * Researchers identified 10 core bacterial taxa that consistently made up about 80% of the rumen microbiota, regardless of the cattle's diet or fattening periods.
  • * Findings show distinct population changes among these core taxa during the fattening process, suggesting that these microbial dynamics play a vital role in maintaining stable rumen fermentation.

Pollen-food allergy syndrome (PFAS) consists of type I allergy to pollen and multiple food items that are cross-reactive to the pollen. PFAS typically occurs in the oral cavity and can co-occur with eosinophilic esophagitis. However, it is infrequently reported to present with symptoms of eosinophilic gastroenteritis (EGE), such as abdominal pain and eosinophilic infiltration of the gastrointestinal tract.

The extracellular adenosine triphosphate (ATP) concentration is highly elevated in the tumor microenvironment (TME) and remains tightly regulated in normal tissues. Using phage display technology, we establish a method to identify an antibody that can bind to an antigen only in the presence of ATP. Crystallography analysis reveals that ATP bound in between the antibody-antigen interface serves as a switch for antigen binding.

Purpose Of Review: Local allergic rhinitis (LAR) represents a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge for clinicians. Even though it affects a considerable number of chronic rhinitis patients and a significant number of articles regarding prevalence, evolution, diagnosis, and treatment have been published, the condition remains still largely unrecognized and therefore misdiagnosed and mistreated.

Recent Findings: LAR is a unique form of chronic rhinitis; it is neither classical allergic rhinitis (AR) nor non-allergic rhinitis (NAR).

The guidance deals with the recommended applications, procedures, and safety management of nebulizer therapy for acute rhinosinusitis. In Japan, nebulizer therapy for sinusitis has been covered by public health insurance since 1958 and has been commonly carried out nationwide. The Japan Society for Infection and Aerosol in Otorhinolaryngology and the Oto-Rhino-Laryngological Society of Japan set up a working group to draw up a consensus guidance on nebulizer therapy for acute rhinosinusitis.

Objective: Sublingual immunotherapy has been considered to be a painless and effective therapeutic treatment of patients with allergic rhinitis. Its mechanism of action has been elucidated, but there are still controversies among many reports between clinical efficacy and laboratory data. Therefore, its mechanism of action needs to be investigated further by using promising animal models such as rodents and monkeys.

We investigated the formation kinetics of a single monolayer nanotube from bolaamphiphiles (consisting of a sugar residue, an alkyl chain, and an amino group) in solution. In this bolaamphiphile, a transition from a monomerically dispersed state to the nanotube takes place by changing the solvent condition. This transition was induced by fast mixing with a stopped-flow apparatus.

Rationally designed bolaamphiphiles are known to self-assemble into nanotube structures. Herein, we report the formation of an inclusion complex between a nanotube and bovine serum albumin (BSA). This complex formation was confirmed by ultraviolet (UV) absorbance and electrophoretic light scattering (ELS).

Background: Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is a refractory upper airway disease, accompanied mainly by eosinophilia and/or asthma. In addition, the disease correlates with a high rate of hyposmia, following a marked infiltration of eosinophils into the inflamed site, the paranasal sinus. Although eosinophils are known to contribute to the development of hyposmia and CRSwNP pathology, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.

The concept of united airway disease comprises allergic rhinitis (AR) with asthma, and eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis (ECRS) with asthma. It embodies a comprehensive approach to the treatment of upper and lower airway inflammation. The treatment of upper airway inflammation reduces asthma symptoms and decreases the dose of inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) necessary to treat asthma.
