Primary diffuse large B-cell lymphoma of the nasal bone and palate: An unusual clinical presentation.

Primary bone lymphomas account for 3-5% of extranodal non-Hodgkin lymphomas in adults and are typically present in the axial skeleton and weight-bearing bones. We present a unique case of primary bone diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) of the nasal bone and palate. We discuss the pathologic and radiologic findings and review the current literature and clinical management to highlight how this unusual clinical entity should be considered in differential diagnoses of head and neck bone masses.

Secretory carcinoma of the salivary gland: a multi-institutional clinicopathologic study of 90 cases with emphasis on grading and prognostic factors.

Unlabelled: Secretory carcinoma (SC) is a rare form of salivary carcinoma that was first described in 2010 and is characterized by ETV6::NTRK3 fusion in most cases. In this large retrospective study, we aimed to identify adverse clinicopathologic factors and propose a prognostically relevant grading scheme for SC.

Methods: A detailed clinicopathologic review was conducted on 90 SCs from the major and minor salivary glands.

Case Report: Hematologic Recovery Following Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy in a Patient With Early-Stage Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer and Paraneoplastic Myelofibrosis.

Herein, we report the first case presentation of paraneoplastic myelofibrosis associated with cancer. Paraneoplastic syndromes occur in some patients with thoracic malignancies; however, myelofibrosis is not commonly seen in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We report a case of myelofibrosis in a patient with a new diagnosis of NSCLC that resolved after stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR).

The Histopathologic Features of Sickle Cell Hepatopathy: A Multi-Institutional Study.

Objectives: Recent data on hepatic histopathology in patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) are lacking.

Methods: A total of 39 liver biopsies from SCD patients from 4 medical institutes were systematically evaluated.

Results: The average age of patients was 27 years; 23 were female.

Increasing Trend of Calretinin-Positive Mucosal Innervation from Aganglionic Zone toward Transition Zone in Hirschsprung's Disease.

Introduction:  Diagnosis of very short-segment Hirschsprung's disease (vsHD) by rectal suction biopsy is challenging as its aganglionic zone (AZ) overlaps with physiologic hypoganglionic zone and calretinin-positive mucosal nerves may extend from the transition zone (TZ) into AZ. We studied whether an increasing trend/gradient of calretinin-positive mucosal nerves along the distance from AZ toward TZ aids in diagnosis of HD.

Materials And Methods:  In this study, 46 rectal suction biopsies from non-HD and HD, and 15 pull-through specimens from short-segment HD were evaluated by mucosal calretinin immunostain (CI) and image processing and analysis (IPA) to measure pixel count (PC, the percentage of calretinin stained pixels in the mucosa).

Increased Cytoplasmic Yes-associated Protein (YAP) Expression in Mismatch Repair Protein-Proficient Colorectal Cancer With High-grade Tumor Budding and Reduced Autophagy Activity.

Yes-associated protein (YAP) is a transcriptional coactivator regulated by autophagy that stimulates colorectal cancer (CRC) progression through activation of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), represented by tumor budding. The associations between these components in CRC are unknown. Archived surgically resected CRCs with known mismatch repair protein (MMR) status were retrieved (n=81; 2010 to 2016).

An Entirely Atypical Presentation of Esophageal Squamous Cell Cancer with Pancreatic and Bone Metastases.

Few cases of solitary pancreatic metastases from esophageal cancer have been reported; however, these previous cases all describe a solid pancreatic mass. We present a unique case of a 67-year-old man with squamous cell carcinoma detected within a pancreatic cystic lesion that was sampled with endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy identified a friable and fungating partially obstructing mass in the distal esophagus with features of fistulization into the lung.

Clinicopathologic features of Buschke-Löwenstein tumor: a multi-institutional analysis of 38 cases.

Buschke-Löwenstein tumor (BLT) is a rare sexually transmitted disease, mostly described in clinical literature as case reports or small series. Here, we investigated the clinicopathologic features of BLT in a total of 38 cases retrieved from multiple academic institutions. The average age was 47.

Image Processing and Analysis of Mucosal Calretinin Staining to Define the Transition Zone in Hirschsprung Disease: A Pilot Study.

Purpose:  Quantification of calretinin-stained mucosal nerve fibers by image processing and analysis (IPA) may objectively define the transition zone (TZ) of Hirschsprung disease (HD). We tested the utility of IPA as an adjunctive tool in HD.

Materials And Methods:  Calretinin immunostain was performed on 15 HD pull-through specimens, and multiple images were captured from the proximal aganglionic zone, TZ, and probable normal zone (NZ).
