Lactobacillus gastricus BTM 7 prevents intestinal colonization by biofilm forming Cronobacter sakazakii in Caenorhabditis elegans model host.

The study reports protective role of potential probiotic cultures against infection by biofilm forming Cronobacter sakazakii in Caenorhabditis elegans model system. Among the fifteen indigenous potential probiotics, the cell free supernatant of Lactobacillus gastricus BTM7 possessed highest antimicrobial action and biofilm inhibition against C. sakazakii.

Characterization of Polar and Non-Polar Compounds of House Edible Bird's Nest (EBN) from Johor, Malaysia.

This work investigated the polar (PC: protein, amino acid and metabolite) and non-polar (NPC: fatty acid) compounds and bioactivity characteristics of the EBN harvested from the state of Johor in Malaysia. The electrophoretic gels exhibited 15 protein bands (16-173 kD) with unique protein profile. Amino acids analysis by AccQ⋅Tag method revealed 18 types of amino acids in EBN.

Role of Ruthenium in the Dielectric, Magnetic Properties of Nickel Ferrite (Ru-NiFeO) Nanoparticles and Their Application in Hydrogen Sensors.

In this work, Ru-doped nickel ferrites (NiFeO) were synthesized by a chemical co-precipitation method. Subsequently, they were annealed at different temperatures. The crystallinity of the samples was evaluated using X-ray diffraction and the morphology of the samples was investigated by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy.

Recent advances in the identification and authentication methods of edible bird's nest.

Edible bird's nest (EBN) is an expensive animal bioproduct due to its reputation as a food and delicacy with diverse medicinal properties. One kilogram of EBN costs ~$6000 in China. EBN and its products are consumed in mostly Asian countries such as China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand, making up almost 1/3 of world population.

Endometrioid carcinoma infiltrating atypical leiomyoma: a mimicker of malignant mixed Mullerian tumor.

Atypical or symplastic leiomyoma is a rare histological variant of leiomyoma. This is a case report of 63-year-old patient who underwent hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. Histopathology of the polypoid growth seen in the endometrial cavity revealed atypical leiomyoma infiltrated by endometrioid cancer.

Objective: This study was designed to evaluate the immunohistochemical expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and p53 protein expression in preneoplastic and neoplastic lesions in uterine cervix.

Study Design: A total of 36 cervical biopsies were subjected for immunostaining and the results were correlated with different prognostic parameters. Bivariate and multivariate statistical analyses were done using "STATA" software.

Rats have inherent licking behavior and responses to good and aversive tasting stimuli, which are comparable to humans. Taste masking of chewable and orodispersible tablets of an iron EDTA complex salt was evaluated using rat behavioral avoidance model, brief access test. Taste-masked chewable and orodispersible tablets of iron EDTA complex were prepared using various flavors and sweeteners as taste-masking agents.

Si(+) ion irradiation in a Co/Pt multilayer system.

This paper deals with a study of the effect of Si(+) ion irradiation on a Co/Pt multilayer system irradiated at different temperatures. The as-deposited and irradiated samples have been characterized using x-ray reflectivity (XRR), x-ray diffraction (XRD) and the magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE). X-ray reflectivity shows clear intermixing at the interfaces.
