Activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome in response to danger signals is a key innate immune mechanism and results in the production of the pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and interleukin-18 (IL-18) as well as pyroptotic cell death. Aberrant NLRP3 activation has been linked to many acute and chronic conditions ranging from atherosclerosis to Alzheimer's disease and cancer, and based on the clinical success of IL-1-targeting therapies, NLRP3 has emerged as an attractive therapeutic target. Background And Objectives: Kidney impairment of ANCA-associated vasculitides can lead to kidney failure. Patients with kidney failure may suffer from vasculitis relapses but are also at high risk of infections and cardiovascular events, which questions the maintenance of immunosuppressive therapy.
Design, Setting, Participants, & Measurements: Patients with ANCA-associated vasculitides initiating long-term dialysis between 2008 and 2012 in France registered in the national Renal Epidemiology and Information Network registry and paired with the National Health System database were included.

Recent quantification studies using TR-FRET-based immunoassays showed decreasing levels of soluble mhtt correlating with an increased load of aggregated mhtt in the aging HdhQ150 mouse brain. To better characterize the nature of these changes at the level of native mhtt species, we developed a detection method that combines size exclusion chromatography (SEC) and time-resolved fluorescence resonance energy transfer (TR-FRET) that allowed us to resolve and define the formation, aggregation and temporal dynamics of native soluble mhtt species and insoluble aggregates in the brain of the HdhQ150 knock-in mouse.

Unlabelled: Recent studies suggest that executive functions are among the first cognitive functions to decline with normal aging.
Methods: We studied the effect of age on executive functions using a set of 13 arithmetic word problems including 9 problems of increasing complexity which were solvable in 2, 3, 4 operations, and 4 aberrant problems. Three groups participated in the study: 18 young, 18 adult and 18 elderly participants.
Single crystals of the title compounds were prepared by solid-solid reaction using BaBr(2) flux at 1373 K. The structures of these two new cobaltites were solved and refined. The two compounds are built from a close-packing of [BaO(3)] and [BaOBr] layers with stacking sequences (c'chhcc')(3) and (c'chhhcc')(2) for the 18R and 14H structures, respectively, which create Co(3)O(12) trimers or Co(4)O(15) tetramers of face-sharing octahedra connected at their extremities to isolated tetrahedra by corner-sharing.
