Gastrin is secreted following a rise in gastric pH, leading to gastric acid secretion. Sleeve gastrectomy (SG), a bariatric surgery where 80% of the gastric corpus is excised, presents a challenge for gastric pH homeostasis. Using histology, and single-cell RNA sequencing of the gastric epithelium in 12 women, we observed that SG is associated with an increase in a sub-population of acid-secreting parietal cells that overexpress respiratory enzymes and an increase in histamine-secreting enterochromaffin-like cells (ECLs).

Background: In this review, we aimed to compare the recommendations for Lynch syndrome (LS).

Methods: We compared the LS's guidelines of different medical societies, including recommendations for cancer surveillance, aspirin treatment, and universal screening.

Results: Most guidelines for LS patients recommend intervals of 1-2 years for performing colonoscopy, though there is disagreement regarding the age to begin CRC screening (dependent on status as a MLH1/MSH2 or MSH6/PMS2 carrier).

Background: In the phase 3 randomized controlled study, ATTRibute-CM, acoramidis, a transthyretin (TTR) stabilizer, demonstrated significant efficacy on the primary endpoint. Participants with transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) who completed ATTRibute-CM were invited to enroll in an open-label extension study (OLE). Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of the senior author's hybrid "mini-open" technique for abductor tendon repair at 2-year follow-up.

Methods: After institutional review board approval, we performed a retrospective review of prospectively collected data for all patients undergoing isolated mini-open gluteus medius tendon repairs from January 2018 to January 2022. Inclusion criteria included ongoing abductor pain refractory to nonoperative management, magnetic resonance imaging demonstrating gluteus medius/minimus tear, completion of preoperative patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) including Modified Harris Hip Score (mHHS), Hip Outcome Score for Activities of Daily Living (HOS-ADL), Hip Outcome Score for Sports-Related Activities (HOS-SS), and visual analog scale (VAS) for pain and minimum 2-year follow-up.

Objective: The goal of this work is to reduce the amount of manual work required to go from data capture to regulatory submission. It will be shown that the use of Siamese networks will allow for the generation of embeddings that can be used by traditional machine learning classifiers to perform the classification at much higher levels of accuracy than standard approaches.

The bulk of eukaryotic diversity is microbial, with macroscopic lineages such as plant, animals and fungi nesting among a plethora of diverse lineages that include amoebae, flagellates, ciliates, and many types of algae. Our understanding of the evolutionary relationships and genome properties of microbial eukaryotes is rapidly advancing through analyses of omics (transcriptomic, genomic) data. However, phylogenomic analyses are challenging for microeukaryotes, and particularly uncultivable lineages, as single-cell approaches generate a mixture of sequence data from hosts, associated microbiomes, and contaminants.

Methods: Subjects with OAG or OHT, on 0-3 intraocular pressure (IOP)-lowering medications, baseline unmedicated mean diurnal IOP of ≥ 21 mmHg, and IOP ≤ 36 mmHg at each baseline diurnal timepoint, received either a travoprost implant and twice-daily (BID) placebo eye drops or BID timolol 0.5% eye drops and a sham procedure.
