Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are used in many industrial and commercial roles and have an increasing number of medical applications. This article reviews the characteristics of UAVs and their current applications in pre-hospital emergency medicine. The key roles are transport of equipment and medications and potentially passengers to or from a scene and the use of cameras to observe or communicate with remote scenes.

Methods: This retrospective study included consecutive adult patients with laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection who received ECMO for ARDS in 21 experienced ECMO centres in eight European countries (Austria, Belgium, England, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Spain) between Jan 1, 2020, and Sept 30, 2021. We collected data on patient characteristics, clinical status, and management before and after the initiation of ECMO.
Mesenteric panniculitis is a rare disease caused by idiopathic inflammation of adipose tissue, most commonly affecting the mesentery of the small bowel. We present a unique case of mesenteric panniculitis in a patient with Tangier disease; a rare genetic disorder caused by mutations in the ABCA1 gene, leading to deficiency of high-density lipoprotein in the blood and accumulation of cholesterol esters within various tissues. The accumulation of cholesterol esters in body tissues in patients with Tangier disease may contribute to the pathogenesis of mesenteric panniculitis; although there is limited evidence to support this hypothesis due to the rarity of concurrent disease.

The aim of the resource was to provide students with essential knowledge and understanding about ADHD prior to their attendance at a classroom teaching session as well as to serve as a revision tool. The paper focuses on the way in which instructional design, educational and multimedia principles were used to inform the development of the resource.
