Unlabelled: A 60-year-old woman with a recent history of presumed cardiogenic cerebral infarction was referred for surgical removal of a left ventricular mass. She was diagnosed with Fabry disease eight years before. Transthoracic echocardiography showed a mobile echogenic mass in the left ventricular apex.

Intermediate water has been found to prevent the adhesion between polymer molecules and proteins or cells. The present study investigated the role of intermediate water retained in the polymer in alleviating postsurgical pericardial adhesion.

Methods: We employed the nationwide insurance claims database encompassing the years 2005 to 2018 in Japan. The inclusion criteria specified patients who were prescribed any type of bDMARDs, including TNFαi and IL-6i.
Photoluminescence (PL) spectra from ruby were obtained using a highly stable LED light source, employing pulse width modulation technique for excitation. The temporal variation in PL intensity caused by the increasing temperature of the LED used for excitation can be mitigated by adjusting the duty ratio (%) of the pulsed LED light to below 10% for cooling the LED. Stable PL spectra measurements were achieved with a duty ratio of less than 10% using a duty ratio-controlled pulsed LED light source, as temperature fluctuations in LED light intensity are minimized at duty ratios less than 10%.

However, the effects of this technique on graft-bone healing have not been fully elucidated.
Purpose: To investigate the effects of vancomycin presoaking on graft-bone healing in a rat ACLR model.
Purposes: This study aimed to retrospectively assess the response to a newly developed compression brace for improving the deformity of the secondary pectus carinatum in infants and toddlers undergoing cardiac surgery with midline sternotomy. Factors affecting the response to the brace were identified.
Methods: Fifty-one children were enrolled.

A 40-year-old man was incidentally found to have right-sided pelvic arteriovenous malformation (AVM) with an aneurysmal dominant outflow vein (DOV). The AVM had two main feeding arteries forming a cluster of fine vessels shunt to the DOV. As transvenous approach was impossible due to anatomical difficulty, transarterial ethanol embolization was performed under simultaneous double microballoon occlusion of the two feeding arteries in combination with protective coil embolization of the prostatic branches.

Methods And Results: Between August 2022 and January 2023, we retrospectively analyzed 110 Japanese patients diagnosed with IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) involving cardiovascular and/or retroperitoneal manifestations, along with 73 non-IgG4-RD patients ("mimickers") identified by experts.
A new sodium tellurate has been hydrothermally synthesized and comprehensively analysed using spectroscopic and thermogravimetric techniques, resulting in the determination of its composition as NaTeO(OH). The analysis of synchrotron X-ray and neutron diffraction data indicates that NaTeO(OH) has a crystal structure similar to that of the previously reported tellurate, KTeO(OH), with the space group 2/ (No. 14).

Several bacterial strains, including probiotic strains, have undergone evaluations for their safety and potential beneficial health effects. Some of these strains have been introduced into various markets, including that for infant products. However, certain probiotic strains have been linked to serious infections in infants, such as septicemia and meningitis.

Although cardiac rehabilitation (CR) improves ADL, it can be difficult to perform CR due to the deconditioning of these patients. This study aimed to examine the factors associated with ADL at discharge in older patients with heart failure who underwent CR.

We describe a technique to repair ischemic ventricular septal rupture via a left ventriculotomy. It employs a large endoventricular patch as a "lining" over the locally patched septal defect and the free wall defect which is going to be roofed with an external patch. Both defects are then closed in double layers, holding a single continuous patch.

Rehabilitation medicine for movement disorders differs in accordance with the degree of severity. Exercise therapy should be performed while the disease is mild, with compensatory training increasing as the severity increases.

However, the effects of recombinant human fibroblast growth factor 2 (rhFGF-2) in periodontal regeneration therapy have not been extensively studied. This retrospective study was conducted to compare the wound healing outcomes of the modified papilla preservation technique (mPPT) between EMD and rhFGF-2 therapies.

Methods: Regarding the status of postponement of appointments, we analyzed the patients who had visited the Nihon University Hospital at Matsudo for more than 1 year for supportive periodontal therapy (SPT) and classified them into low-, moderate- and high-risk subgroups according to the periodontal risk assessment (PRA). Clinical parameters for periodontal disease such as probing depth (PD), full-mouth bleeding score (FMBS), full-mouth plaque score, periodontal inflamed surface area (PISA), and periodontal epithelial surface area (PESA) were analyzed in 2 periods, from October 2019 to March 2020 and after April 2020.
A left hepatic vein draining into the coronary sinus is an extremely rare congenital abnormality as a solitary cardiovascular malformation. We encountered the anomaly during the mitral valve surgery in a 72-year-old woman. The operation was successfully carried out using an additional suction directly in the left hepatic vein.

Probiotics are considered a CDI-preventive measure; however, highly inconsistent data have been previously reported. Thus, we evaluated the CDI-preventive effect of prescribed probiotics in high-risk older patients receiving antibiotics.

Methods: Computed tomography images of A-DIBH, T-DIBH, and FB from 25 patients with breast cancer were used to simulate patients with esophageal cancer. The irradiation field was set at an involved-field, and target and risk organs were outlined according to uniform criteria.
Purpose: Deep inspiration breath hold (DIBH) is used with adjuvant radiation therapy after left breast cancer surgery to reduce radiation dose to the heart. In this study we determined whether thoracic DIBH (T-DIBH) or abdominal DIBH (A-DIBH) should be selected based on patient background.
Methods: Three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy plans were created under the same conditions using free breathing (FB), T-DIBH, and A-DIBH CT scans of patients who had previously undergone treatment at our hospital.
Aims: This retrospective cohort study aimed to evaluate the effect of the interaction between methotrexate and glucocorticoids on the risk of developing bacterial infections in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) using biological disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDs).
Methods: We used the 2005-2018 JMDC claims database, a nationwide claims database in Japan. From the database of 7 175 048 patients, study patients were obtained by applying the following exclusion criteria: no use of bDMARDs; without information on the date of prescription; without RA as a disease; other than the new users of bDMARDs; and age <18 years.
Absence of the pericardium is generally asymptomatic rare congenital disorder. However, it may be life-threatening problem due to cardiac deviation or herniation after the pulmonary resection. We described a case of complete defect of the pericardium found at surgery for metastatic lung cancer.

However, there is not enough discussion about suitable breathing methods for DIBH. Therefore, we investigated the radiation doses and organ and body surface displacement in abdominal DIBH (A-DIBH) and thoracic DIBH (T-DIBH).
