Endometrial stromal sarcoma involving the placenta.

This report presents two cases of endometrial sarcoma tumor detected in decidua submitted with placentas for pathologic evaluation. The first patient had low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma discovered in the omentum and decidua at the time of a cesarean section for placenta previa. The second patient underwent a cesarean section for breech presentation and was noted to have a mass beneath the placenta that was histologically compatible with low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma.

Immune recognition of endometrial tumor antigens induced by multiparity.

Objective: The risk of developing endometrial cancer is reduced with increasing parity. The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility that maternal immunization against fetal antigens might be elicited during pregnancy and, if so, to characterize antigens reactive with this immune response.

Methods: Sera were obtained from nulliparous (n = 9) and multiparous women (n = 14).

Induction of immune responses to ovarian tumor antigens by multiparity.

Objective: Because epidemiologic data indicate a reduction in ovarian cancer risk with increased parity, the occurrence of maternal immunization against ovarian tumor-associated antigens during pregnancy was investigated.

Methods: Sera were obtained from nulligravid and multiparous women and from men. Cellular proteins were isolated from four ovarian tumor cell lines as well as from normal ovaries.

Vulvar eccrine porocarcinoma.

A rare case of a slowly growing vulvar tumor in a 75-year-old woman is presented. This vulvar neoplasm was an eccrine porocarcinoma with left inguinal nodal metastases. This is believed to be only the second reported case of a vulvar eccrine porocarcinoma.

Case report: acute focal bacterial pyelonephritis (lobar nephronia)--presentation as a palpable abdominal mass.

Acute lobar nephronia, or focal pyelonephritis, is an uncommon form of renal infection with a distinct computerized tomographic appearance. A patient is presented with lobar nephronia characterized by fever, flank pain, urosepsis, and painful abdominal mass. Differentiating this condition from abscess or other renal mass is important, because the treatment of lobar nephronia is nonsurgical.
