Background: Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense (DOD) acknowledge that nutrition may be a modifier of mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) sequelae. Military clinicians are considering nutritional supplements and dietary interventions when managing patients with mild TBI. Therefore, clinicians should be familiar with the current evidence for nutritional interventions in mild TBI and special considerations related to the military lifestyle.

Background: Concussion, also known as mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), is a condition with unique ties to military service. Service members (SMs) are inherently at a higher risk for concussive injuries due to the intense physical training environment and combat operational tempo required to serve. The Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence (TBICoE) is the US Department of Defense authority on this condition and provides a thorough approach to management of concussion and associated symptom sequela.

Context: In 2018, the US military developed the Military Acute Concussion Evaluation-2 (MACE-2) to inform the acute evaluation of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). However, researchers have yet to investigate false-positive rates for components of the MACE-2, including the Vestibular-Ocular Motor Screening (VOMS) and modified Balance Error Scoring System (mBESS), in military personnel.

Objective: To examine factors associated with false-positive results on the VOMS and mBESS in US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) personnel.

Introduction: The Department of Defense spends more than $3 billion annually on medical costs of lifestyle-related morbidity. Military service members and veterans engage in unhealthy behaviors at a higher rate than the civilian population. Lifestyle medicine may mitigate lifestyle-related chronic diseases and increase medical readiness in the U.

Background: Airway compromise is the second leading cause of preventable death on the battlefield. Special operations medic comprise the majority of medics trained to perform endotracheal intubation (ETI), mostly by way of direct laryngoscopy (DL). The iView is a disposable, low-cost video laryngoscopy (VL) device, enabling its distribution to prehospital medical providers.

Unlabelled: The Military Acute Concussion Evaluation 2 (MACE 2), which includes the Vestibular-Ocular Motor Screening (VOMS) tool and the single-leg stance component of the modified Balance Error Scoring System (mBESS), was introduced in 2018 as an assessment of acute mTBI in US military personnel. However, the reliability of the VOMS and mBESS in this population has not been established.

Objectives: The primary purpose of this study was to examine the reliability of the VOMS across a 6-month period in healthy, uninjured US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) personnel.
