Article Synopsis
  • MRI is preferred for diagnosing low back pain with radiculopathy, but it often misses spondylolisthesis; this study investigates the relationship between the angle of exiting nerve roots on MRI and lumbar instability.
  • Researchers analyzed data from 248 patients who had surgery for lumbar issues, measuring the angle of obliquity of nerve roots in MRI and comparing it to findings from dynamic X-rays.
  • The results showed a strong correlation: nearly all patients with spondylolisthesis had a large oblique angle (>105°), while most without had a smaller angle (<105°), indicating that this method can effectively detect spondylolisthesis with high sensitivity and specificity.

An azygos anterior cerebral artery (ACA) is a rare variant of normal embryogenesis in which confluence of two A1 segments results in a single A2 segment with the absence of anterior communicating artery. The occurrence of an aneurysm at the bifurcation of azygos ACA is rare with few cases reported in the literature. We report a case of a 40-year-old lady who presented with subarachnoid hemorrhage following rupture of a giant, saccular distal azygos ACA aneurysm.
