Monteggia fractures are rare but commonly discussed lesions, with increasing complications due to late diagnosis. This article describes a case of a Monteggia fracture with delayed dislocation of the radial head. Previous radiographs of a 2-year 8-month-old boy show complete fracture of the distal ulna, with no radial head dislocation.

Background: Correction of deformity using guided growth with plate and screw constructs has shown good results in the correction of angular deformities in children. Some recent reports have shown device failure, perhaps because of increased patient weight as seen in Blount disease. The purpose of our study was to compare the strength to failure between 2 similar devices, the Orthofix 8-plate manufacturer 1 (M-1) and Biomet Peanut plate manufacturer 2 (M-2), using 2 different screw types: solid and cannulated.

We have isolated a new mutation, wandering carpel (wcr), which affects polarity of the maize flower, altering its orientation or converting it from zygomorphy to radial symmetry. These changes result in the development of embryos on locations other than the normal, acropetal side of the kernel. More than two carpels can develop into silks.
