Background: Medication reviews are recognized services to increase quality of therapy and reduce medication risks. The selection of eligible patients with potential to receive a major benefit is based on assumptions rather than on factual data. Acceptance of interprofessional collaboration is crucial to increase the quality of medication therapy.

Effect evaluation of an interprofessional medication therapy management approach for multimorbid patients in primary care: a cluster-randomized controlled trial in community care (WestGem study protocol).

Background: Pharmaceutical practice worldwide is developing towards patient care. Medication Review (MR) and Medication Therapy Management (MTM) are evolving as the most prominent services in pharmaceutical care and have a strong potential to provide a large benefit for patients and society. MTMs can only be performed in an interprofessional, collaborative setting.

General practitioners' views on polypharmacy and its consequences for patient health care.

Background: Multimorbidity is defined as suffering from coexistent chronic conditions. Multimorbid patients demand highly complex patient-centered care which often includes polypharmacy, taking an average of six different drugs per day. Adverse drug reactions, adverse drug events and medication errors are all potential consequences of polypharmacy.

Functional (psychogenic) movement disorders.

Purpose Of Review: This review provides an overview of recent developments in diagnosis, pathophysiology, neuroimaging and management of functional (psychogenic) movement disorders (FMD).

Recent Findings: There has been increasing interest to study the underlying pathophysiology of FMD, which has resulted in a broadened disease model, taking neurobiologic and psychosocial factors equally into account. In this context, the term 'psychogenic' has been replaced by 'functional' movement disorders by many authors in the field to express the changing focus toward a multifactorial disease model.

Functional movement disorders: successful treatment with a physical therapy rehabilitation protocol.

Background: Functional ("psychogenic") gait and other movement disorders have proven very difficult to treat.

Objectives: Describe the Mayo Clinic functional movement disorder motor-reprogramming protocol conducted in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR), and assess short-term and long-term outcomes.

Design: Historical-cohort-study assessing non-randomized PMR intervention.

Sequelae of a left-sided parietal stroke: posterior alien hand syndrome.

Posterior alien hand syndrome is a new addition to a poorly understood group of movement disorders. Historically, anatomical lesions causing uncontrolled limb movement and a feeling of foreignness were found to be located in the corpus callosum or frontal lobe. Recent case reports, however, demonstrate the typical symptoms of alien hand syndrome with lesions located in the parietal/occipital lobes.

Very early semantic dementia with progressive temporal lobe atrophy: an 8-year longitudinal study.

Background: Semantic dementia is a syndrome within the spectrum of frontotemporal lobar degenerations characterized by fluent progressive aphasia (particularly anomia) and loss of word meaning.

Objective: To report a unique case of very early semantic dementia with a slowly progressive course, allowing insights into the early natural history of this disorder.

Design: Case report.

Postnatal development of synaptopodin expression in the rodent hippocampus.

Synaptopodin is an actin-binding protein of renal podocytes and dendritic spines. We have recently shown that synaptopodin is localized to the spine apparatus, a characteristic organelle of dendritic spines on forebrain neurons. Synaptopodin-deficient mice do not form spine apparatuses, indicating a role of synaptopodin in the formation of this organelle.
