Barriers and facilitators of return to work for individuals with strokes: perspectives of the stroke survivor, vocational specialist, and employer.

The purpose of this study was to identify factors that facilitated or acted as a barrier to return to work (RTW) for stroke survivors. We applied 3 approaches to identify the factors. First, we conducted qualitative interviews with 10 stroke survivors about their RTW experience post stroke.

Child care and parenting issues for the young stroke survivor.

Parenting is a complex and challenging task for any parent and it becomes even more complicated for an individual who experiences a disability. Literature addressing the parenting role for individuals who have experienced a stroke is limited. This article provides information on evaluation tools available for assessing an individual's ability to perform child care tasks and intervention strategies such as adaptive techniques and equipment for maximizing ability and promoting safe performance of child care tasks by the individual who has experienced a stroke.
