E-Consults in Dermatology: A Retrospective Analysis.

Dermatology electronic consultations (e-consults) placed by primary care providers (PCPs) can increase access to specialty care while reducing wait times and providing accurate clinical outcomes. These e-consults also may reduce barriers for underserved patients who historically have limited access to dermatologic care. Our retrospective chart review examines patient outcomes from a dermatology e-consult program at a tertiary care medical center.

Evaluating How a School-Based Skin Cancer Prevention Program Can Change Behavior Among North Carolina Highschoolers.

The incidence of skin cancer has risen steadily over recent decades. Childhood and adolescent sun exposure remains a critical risk factor in skin cancer development, making education of high schoolers imperative for promoting sun-safe behaviors. Medical students in North Carolina recognized this need and designed a skin cancer education program focused on portraying skin cancer in individuals with all Fitzpatrick skin phototypes.

A Qualitative Examination of the Preferred Language for Patients Discussing Genital Psoriasis With the Physician.

Background: Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease that may affect the genitalia in up to 60% of patients. This is a significant concern to patients; however, they may be too embarrassed to report genital involvement or seek help for it spontaneously. Information on preferred language that would put patients more at ease discussing disease in sensitive areas is lacking.

Accountability in reminder-based adherence interventions: A review.

Objective: Interventions to elicit accountability capitalize on social behaviors to improve adherence but are distinct from reminders. However, little is known about the impact of accountability in reminder-based adherence interventions. Through a literature review, we aim to identify the frequency and effectiveness of accountability in reminder-based intervention studies.

Purpose: Hospitalized patients with a developmental or intellectual disability and a psychiatric disorder (dual-diagnosis) often pose a risk to themselves or others leading to high injury rates for their providers. Therefore, evidence-based strategies to reduce employee injuries resulting from interactions are necessary.

Methods: To reduce injuries resulting from interactions with dual-diagnosis patients, the Initial Behavioural Assessment (IBA) and Protective Equipment Decision Key (PEDK) were used in inpatient neuropsychiatry.
