This paper reports on the growing issues experienced when conducting web-based-based research. Nongenuine participants, repeat responders, and misrepresentation are common issues in health research posing significant challenges to data integrity. A summary of existing data on the topic and the different impacts on studies is presented.

Managing intractable pain with neuraxial infusion at home.

A case study of a 9-year-old child with complex pain secondary to metastatic liver cancer, who eventually required intrathecal drug delivery (ITDD) of analgesia. Multi-modal symptom control strategies were deployed to achieve the child's and parental wishes for end-of-life care (EoLC) at home using ITDD. The following recommendations are made for nursing practice in paediatric palliative care (PPC); rigorous risk assessment, exemplary communication with the identification of a coordinating team, timely training needs assessment and the delivery of training from hospital based experts in ITDD practice, comprehensive symptom management plan and 24/7 access to specialist palliative care teams were essential for safe nursing practice.

A comparison of temporal pathways to self-harm in young people compared to adults: A pilot test of the Card Sort Task for Self-harm online using Indicator Wave Analysis.

Background: Self-harm is complex, multifaceted, and dynamic, typically starts in adolescence, and is prevalent in young people. A novel research tool (the Card Sort Task for Self-harm; CaTS) offers a systematic approach to understanding this complexity by charting the dynamic interplay between multidimensional factors in the build-up to self-harm. Sequential analysis of CaTS has revealed differences in key factors between the first and the most recent episode of self-harm in adolescence.

Voice parade procedures: optimising witness performance.

Unfamiliar voice identification is error-prone. Whilst the investigation of system variables may indicate ways of boosting earwitness performance, this is an under-researched area. Two experiments were conducted to investigate how methods of presenting voices during a parade affect accuracy and self-rated confidence.
