Objective:  This study aimed to engage clinical and community stakeholders to create a prioritization matrix of interventions to reduce neonatal brain injury and improve neurodevelopmental outcomes.

Study Design:  We collaborated with our community partner to establish a Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG). Faculty performed a literature review to identify neonatal neuroprotective interventions; additional priorities from the LEAG were also included.

Lead (Pb) toxicity, through ingestion of lead ammunition in carcasses, is a threat to scavenging birds worldwide, but has received little attention in Australia. We analyzed lead exposure in the wedge-tailed eagle (Aquila audax), the largest raptor species found in mainland Australia and a facultative scavenger. Eagle carcasses were collected opportunistically throughout south-eastern mainland Australia between 1996 and 2022.

Background: Applied mechanical vibration in pediatric and adult populations has been shown to be an effective analgesic for acute and chronic pain, including needle pain. Studies among the neonatal population are lacking. According to the Gate Control Theory, it is expected that applied mechanical vibration will have a summative effect with standard nonpharmacologic pain control strategies, reducing behavioral and physiologic pain responses to heel lancing.
