Chinese students studying at Australian universities with specific reference to nursing students: a narrative literature review.

Objective: To report the current knowledge on the Chinese nursing students' learning at Australian universities. The intent is to provide educators and researchers with a background to the contexts, the methodologies, the emphases of various relevant studies, and to provide recommendations for future research.

Background: Attracting international students has become an important part of Australian universities' business and contributes to their cultural diversity.

E-portfolios for the aspiring professional.

The introduction of the ANMC's Continuing Competence Framework means that an increasing number of Australian Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives will be required to submit a portfolio if audited in order to maintain their registration. As several professional organisations and State regulatory authorities have already demonstrated, nurses and midwives will be supported to do this. However there is a risk that individuals commencing a portfolio for the first time will attempt to deal with the requirement by focussing on the minimum standards set by the regulatory authorities.

Creating a 21st century nursing work force: designing a bachelor of nursing program in response to the health reform agenda.

This paper demonstrates the processes of designing a nursing curriculum that integrates health care and educational reforms, regulatory requirements and the needs of a modern nursing workforce. In particular, the paper illustrates the application of a curriculum design process. In 2008, the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of South Australia completed the challenging task of designing and implementing a Bachelor of Nursing curriculum to ensure that nursing graduates meet projected health care delivery needs within the Australian context.
