  • One-dimensional (1D) (1)H NMR spectroscopy is commonly used for analyzing metabolites, but the authors introduce a more effective two-dimensional (2D) (1)H-(13)C NMR method called fast metabolite quantification (FMQ).
  • This new technique can identify and quantify around 40 abundant metabolites in biological samples with high accuracy (2.7% technical error) in just 12 minutes, outperforming traditional 1D methods which had a 16.2% error.
  • FMQ by NMR is proposed as a better alternative for metabolomics studies, especially when working with 50 mg of sample extracts.
