Chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH) primarily affects older adults, is often recurrent after treatment, and can lead to severe complications, including death, with inflammation playing a significant role in its development.
The study analyzed cases of cSDH operated on between 2018 and 2020 by reviewing data on sociodemographics, clinical factors, laboratory indices, and treatment outcomes, focusing on their association with the thickness of the cSDH.
Out of 72 patients studied, most were elderly with common chronic conditions, and the research found a median Glasgow Outcome Score (GOS) of 5 at discharge and 1 year, with notable rates of recurrence and resurgery occurring within a year post-treatment
