Synthesis and evaluation of isoxazole derivatives as lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) antagonists.

A series of isoxazole derivatives were synthesized and their antagonistic activities against LPA stimulation on both LPA(1)/CHO cells and rHSC cells were evaluated. Among them, 3-(4-[4-[1-(2-chloro-cyclopent-1-enyl)-ethoxycarbonylamino]-isoxazol-3- y]]-benzylsulfanyl)-propionic acid (34) showed the most potent activities.

[A case of gastric cancer with a synchronous hepatic metastasis responding to postoperative oral administration of UFT and intermittent intrahepatic arterial chemotherapy of 5-FU].

A 65-year-old male was admitted to our hospital because of sudden onset of upper abdominal pain due to the perforation of gastric cancer with synchronous hepatic metastasis. He underwent total gastrectomy with lymphatic dissection of D1 + alpha. Pathological diagnosis of the surgical specimen was moderately differentiated tubular adenocarcinoma.

Aspiration biopsy cytology of secretory carcinoma of the breast. A case report.

Secretory carcinoma diagnosed by aspiration biopsy cytology (ABC) disclosed many characteristic figures that were similar to a bunch of grapes, secondary mucous globular structures (MGSs) and clustered MGSs. The MGS was a unit structure of secretory carcinoma composed of a centrally located, small amount of mucus and two or more tumor cells covering it. Other findings were vacuolated cells and mucus in a clear background.

[Continuous intra-arterial infusion chemotherapy for inoperable retroperitoneal liposarcoma--a case report].

A case of an inoperable recurrent retroperitoneal liposarcoma, histologically diagnosed as being a mixed myxoid type and a round cell type, which was treated by continuous intra-arterial infusion chemotherapy, is reported. [A clinicopathological study of five cases of adenosquamous carcinoma of the stomach].

Five cases of adenosquamous carcinoma with resected stomach were subjected to this study, and the clinicopathological characteristics of this condition were described. The five patients represented 0.8% of 589 cases of resected stomach.

[By-pass surgery with infusion therapy for non-resectable esophageal cancer].

In principle, the following three steps are considered for by-pass surgery; I. A gastric tube is moved up to the retro-sternal or to the ante-thoracic position. A T-tube is the inserted in the mid position of the gastric tube for decompression and drainage.

[Effect of intravenous administration of FT-207 for gastric cancer].

FT-207, 800mg per day, was administered intravenously 2 hours per day for 6 days to 15 patients with gastric cancer. By chemical assay, FT-207 and 5-FU concentrations in the blood and tissues were determined. The FT-207 levels in cancerous tissue, metastatic lymph nodes and normal gastric mucosa were almost equal.

Non-oat cell small cell carcinoma of the esophagus. Report of a case with ultrastructural observation.

A resected case of undifferentiated, non-oat cell type small cell carcinoma of the esophagus in a 78-year-old Japanese male is presented. Biopsy of a lower esophageal tumor that showed protrusions and centrally ulcerated features on esophageal roentgenograms, was initially misinterpreted as probable malignant lymphoma, because the absence of epithelial arrangement and the presence of abundant fine reticulin fibers encircling individual tumor cells. However, sections of the resected specimen disclosed minute foci consisting of nest formations of tumor cells suggesting an epithelial nature.

[Therapeutic effect of amoxicillin in the surgical field (author's transl)].

1. Amoxicillin was used for treatment of 15 cases of infectious diseases in the surgical field and for prevention of 4 cases of postoperative infection, and good result was obtained in all 19 cases. Especially in the latter 4 cases, amoxicillin showed good preventive effect.
