Introduction: Tajikistan has a laboratory network with three levels of tuberculosis (TB) laboratories. The external quality assessment (EQA) of sputum smear microscopy was implemented in 2007. The objective of this study was to evaluate the EQA system and identify potential performance improvement strategies in TB microscopic laboratories in Sughd, Tajikistan.

Hepatocarcinogenesis induced by DENA lead to increase in NO2 level, decrease in L-Arginin and Malonic Di-aldehyde (MDA) levels. The use of doksorubicyn slightly increases L-Arginin level in blood serum in mice without affecting considerably nitrite levels. Doksorubicin application in combination with ronkoleukin enables profound consumption of L-Arginin, increases nitrite levels and MDA.

Structural changes of thymus in heliotrin hepatitis were characterized by distinct dynamics which on the whole suggested the progressing hypoplasia of its cortex. Immunostimulants parandin and thymalin suppressed the extent of thymocyte destruction and stimulated their mitotic activity. Although these parameters did not reach the control levels, the significant deceleration of hypoplastic processes in thymus, particularly in its cortex, were detected.

Content of fucose and of fucosylated protein fractions was studied in blood serum of healthy donors as well as in blood serum of patients with chronic gastritis and with stomach cancer. Concentration of fucose was increased in blood serum under conditions of the tumor generalization. At the same time, content of fucosylated albumin was elevated within early steps of stomach cancer, while the content of fucosylated globulins was decreased.

A procedure is developed, involving electrophoresis and TCA-ethanol treatment of electrophoregramms, which enabled to estimate quantitatively the modified derivatives of albumin just in blood serum without the protein isolation. The method is based on ability of native albumin to maintain its solubility after TCA-ethanol treatment. At the same time, modified albumin with conformational alterations was fixed on a carrier and might be estimated using colorimetry or densitometry.

Phospholipid composition and oxidative phosphorylation were studied in liver mitochondria of rats with experimental chronic hepatitis. The hepatitis was simulated by means of two hepatotropic drugs--heliotrin and CCl4. Content of phosphatidyl inositol was decreased and that of phosphatidic acid--increased in the hepatitis independently of the nature of the agent inducing the disease.

Conformational changes in blood serum albumin under heart ischemia are found from the dispersion parameters of optical rotation and circular dichroism. It is also found that patients with myocardium infarction have a considerable amount of carbohydrate components in the modified albumin form.
