Background: Many studies have aimed to investigate and compare immune system and systemic inflammation parameters in patients with bipolar disorder (BD) and major depressive disorder (MDD) suffering from a depressive episode. However, no systematic review of the results has been conducted so far.

Aim: The aim of this study was to conduct a scoping review of research studies comparing immune and systemic inflammation parameters in patients with BD and MDD during a depressive episode.

The functioning of the photosynthetic apparatus in barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) after 7-days of exposure to bulk (b-ZnO) and nanosized ZnO (n-ZnO) (300, 2000, and 10,000 mg/l) has been investigated. An impact on the amount of chlorophylls, photosynthetic efficiency, as well as the zinc accumulation in chloroplasts was demonstrated.

Protonic ceramic fuel cells (PCFCs) offer a convenient means of converting chemical energy into electricity with high performance and efficiency at low- and intermediate-temperature ranges. However, in order to ensure good life-time stability of PCFCs, it is necessary to ensure rational chemical design in functional materials. Within the present work, we propose new Ni-based perovskite phases of PrNiMO (where M = Co, Fe) for potential utilization in protonic ceramic electrochemical cells.

Unlabelled: was to develop composite film materials derived from modified sodium carboxymethyl cellulose and to evaluate their anti-adhesive effects.

Materials And Methods: The modified film materials were obtained by dissolving sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (Na-CMC) in an aqueous solution of a modifier (glycoluril) with subsequent homogenization and drying in a vacuum drying oven at room temperature. Physicomechanical parameters of the obtained films were determined using the Instron 3369 universal electromechanical testing machine (Great Britain) equipped with a climatic chamber (300-523 K), improved video extensometer, and the MKC-25 micrometer (Russia).

A comparative analysis of physio-biochemical indices and transcriptional activity of oxidative stress genes in barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) seedlings after 7-days exposure to bulk- and nano-ZnO (300 and 2000 mg/L) was carried out. A dose-dependent reduction in the length and weight of roots and shoots, as well as a significant accumulation of Zn in plant parts, was shown.

Excessive body weight and obesity in childhood and adolescence are becoming more and more important unfavorable factors that entail extremely adverse consequences and require close attention of physicians of any specialty. Along with the high prevalence of obesity and metabolic syndrome in pediatric patients, children and adolescents in the majority of countries are diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency. Among the non-calcaemic effects of vitamin D, a significant role is played by its impact on the hormonal regulation of glucose metabolism and the synthesis of adipokines by fat tissue.
