This manuscript analysed the National Health and Morbidity Survey 2019 data to identify the prevalence of moderate to severe ED among men aged 18 and above in Malaysia and describe its associated factors. Self-administered questionnaire on ED utilised a locally validated International Index of Erectile Function.

Porous NiTi Dental Implant Fabricated by a Metal Injection Molding: An in Vivo Biocompatibility Evaluation in an Animal Model.

This study assessed the corrosion resistance, intracutaneous reactivity, acute systemic toxicity, and in situ tissue effect of the implantation of porous NiTi fabricated by metal injection molding in animal models. For the intracutaneous reactivity study, five intracutaneous injections were administered per site with and without the tested extract in polar and nonpolar solutions. The extract was also delivered via intravenous and intraperitoneal routes for acute systemic toxicity.

TiO Nanotubes Decorated with MoC for Enhanced Photoelectrochemical Water-Splitting Properties.

The presence of Ti in the structure of TiO nanotube arrays (NTs) has been shown to enhance the photoelectrochemical (PEC) water-splitting performance of these NTs, leading to improved results compared to pristine anatase TiO NTs. To further improve the properties related to PEC performance, we successfully produced TiO NTs using a two-step electrochemical anodization technique, followed by annealing at a temperature of 450 °C. Subsequently, MoC was decorated onto the NTs by dip coating them with precursors at varying concentrations and times.

Clinical Perspectives of Gut Microbiota in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease and End-Stage Kidney Disease: Where Do We Stand?

The gut microbiota (GM) plays a vital role in human health, with increasing evidence linking its imbalance to chronic kidney disease and end-stage kidney disease. Although the exact methods underlying kidney-GM crosstalk are not fully understood, interventions targeting GM were made and lay in three aspects: diagnostic, predictive, and therapeutic interventions. While these interventions show promising results in reducing uremic toxins and inflammation, challenges remain in the form of patient-specific GM variability, potential side effects, and safety concerns.

The first 1000 days after birth represent a critical window for gut microbiome development, which is essential for immune system maturation and overall health. The gut microbiome undergoes major changes during this period due to shifts in diet and environment. Disruptions to the microbiota early in life can have lasting health effects, including increased risks of inflammatory disorders, autoimmune diseases, neurological disorders, and obesity.

Non-Pharmacological Interventions for Pain Management in Hemodialysis: A Narrative Review.

This narrative review aims to summarize non-pharmacological interventions for pain management in hemodialysis patients, assessing their potential benefits and limitations in enhancing patient well-being and quality of life. We reviewed the current literature on five primary non-pharmacological interventions: acupuncture, cognitive behavioral therapy, relaxation techniques, virtual reality, and alternative methods such as transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, music therapy, and aromatherapy. We analyzed the evidence regarding their effectiveness, feasibility, and optimal implementation strategies.

A 12-year-old Somalian girl presented with chronic kidney disease and died as a result of female genital mutilation- A case report.

The tradition of female genital mutilation (FGM) is practiced in many African countries, including Somalia. FGM is responsible for several short and long-term complications that can negatively influence vital and functional prognosis. We present a case of a 12-year-old girl subjected to FGM who developed urethral meatus stenosis, exacerbated by chronic renal failure and urine infection, leading to her death from a combination of complications.

Microtubular cellulose-derived kapok fibre as a solid electron donor for boosting photocatalytic HO production over C-doped g-CN hybrid complexation.

Cellulose continues to play an important and emerging role in photocatalysis, and its favourable properties, such as electron-rich hydroxyl groups, could enhance the performance of photocatalytic reactions. For the first time, this study exploited the kapok fibre with microtubular structure (t-KF) as a solid electron donor to enhance the photocatalytic activity of C-doped g-CN (CCN) via ligand-to-metal-charge-transfer (LMCT) to improve hydrogen peroxide (HO) production performance. As confirmed by various characterisation techniques, the hybrid complex consisting of CCN grafted on t-KF was successfully developed in the presence of succinic acid (SA) as a cross-linker via a simple hydrothermal approach.
