Recurrences of herpetic infections following intraocular surgeries pose a threat to optimal surgical outcomes. The high prevalence of herpetic diseases require ophthalmologists to be familiar with the special measures in the surgery of these patients. A thorough preoperative assessment and meticulous postoperative surveillance should be tailored for each patient, depending on the surgery and the risk of virus reactivation.
