Traditionally, research on the adaptive immune system has focused on protein antigens, but emerging evidence has underscored the essential role of lipid antigens in immune modulation. Lipid antigens are presented by CD1 molecules and activate invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells and group 1 CD1-restricted T cells, whereby they impact immune responses to pathogens and tumors. Recent advances in mass spectrometry, imaging techniques, and lipidomics have revolutionized the identification and characterization of lipid antigens and enhanced our understanding of their structural diversity and functional significance.

Background: Given the importance of achieving optimal therapeutical concentration in patients treated with antidepressants, this study investigates a novel technique for the simultaneous determination of trazodone (TRZ) and doxepin (DOX) in human plasma and serum samples for the first time.

Results: To achieve simultaneous determination of two antidepressants, TRZ and DOX, a novel detection system was designed: a non-enzymatic voltammetric biosensor based on boron-reduced graphene oxide/manganese oxide nanoparticles (GCE/B-rGO/MnO NPs). The detection was accomplished after pre-concentration and extraction trace amounts of the analytes using the thin film-solid phase microextraction (TF-SPME) technique, which employed polyvinyl alcohol/polyvinyl acetate/copper oxide nanoparticles (PVA/PVAc/CuO NPs) electrospun nanofibers.

This study assessed the frequency of accessory maxillary ostium (AMO) in patients with/without sinusitis and its correlation with anatomical variations using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). In this cross-sectional study, 244 CBCT scans were evaluated in two groups: with maxillary sinusitis having > 2 mm mucosal thickening and without max sinusitis as a normal group having normal or less than 2 mm mucosa. The CBCT scans of each group were carefully evaluated for the presence/absence of AMO, patency/obstruction of the primary maxillary ostium (PMO), and the presence of anatomical variations of the paranasal sinuses.

Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between serum levels of PTH and dental and bone changes in the panoramic view of hemodialysis patients.

Methods: Out of 236 patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) who were hospitalized in two hemodialysis centers, 68 ones were selected and concerning their PTH serum levels, they were assigned to case group (PTH > 300 pg/mL) and control group (150 < PTH < 300 pg/mL).
