: The purpose of this study was to analyze relevant areas in acute-stage fluorescein angiography (FA) images, predicting the long-term visual prognosis of branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) based on gradient-weighted class activation mapping (Grad-CAM). : This retrospective observational study included 136 eyes with BRVO that were followed up for more than a year post-FA. Cropped grayscale images centered on the fovea (200 × 200 pixels) were manually pre-processed from early-phase FA at the acute phase.

Impact of inpatient management of hyperglycemia on peripheral T cell markers in patients with type 2 diabetes.

In this study, we hypothesized that this improvement might involve changes in T cell function. We compared the peripheral T cell markers between the people with and without type 2 diabetes (T2D) admitted to our hospital for glycemic control, and then in patients with T2D before and after the improvement of hyperglycemia by inpatient treatment.

Stratified choroidal vascular structure in treatment-naïve diabetic retinopathy.

Objective: To analyze the anatomical choroidal vascular layers in topical treatment-naïve diabetic retinopathy (DR) eyes.

Design: A retrospective, clinical case-control study.

Methods: A total of 328 eyes from 228 patients with treatment-naive DR and 192 eyes matched for axial length from 174 healthy controls were enrolled in the study.

Here, we report an 86-year-old Japanese woman presenting with confluent maculopapular erythema, which developed following the second dose of COVID-19 Messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine (BNT162b2). Her skin lesions spread over time and persisted for more than 3 months. Surprisingly, immunohistochemical staining of the lesion 100 days after the disease onset revealed the COVID-19 spike protein expressed by vascular endothelial cells and eccrine glands in the deep dermis.

However, known biomarkers like PD-L1 are not consistently indicative of ICB response. Other markers within the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) may better reflect ICB response and/or resistance mechanisms, but an understanding of how TIMEs differ between stage III and IV NSCLC has not been explored.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the timing of peripapillary vascular damage between functional and structural parameters and examine their involvement with neurovascular coupling at different stages of diabetic retinopathy (DR).

Methods: One hundred ninety eyes of 143 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) and 88 healthy control eyes were enrolled. Eyes of DM patients were divided into 3 stages with no diabetic retinopathy (NDR), non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR), and proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR).

Effects of treatment with methimazole on circulating CD4 and CD8 T cells positive for programed cell death protein-1 and on subsets of CD4 T cells in untreated hyperthyroid patients with Graves' disease.

Objective: We investigated longitudinal changes in circulating CD4 and CD8 T cells positive for programed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) and in other subsets of CD4 T cells in untreated hyperthyroid patients with Graves' disease after treatment with methimazole (MMI).

Design And Patients: The study included 18 untreated hyperthyroid patients with Graves' disease and 18 age-matched controls. Before and after 12-week treatment with MMI, we used flow cytometry to measure circulating PD-1  D4 and PD-1 CD8+ T cells and subsets of CD4 T cells in peripheral blood, as well as serum levels of chemokines related to T-helper type 1 (Th-1) and Th-2 cells.

Here, we present three cases of cancer patients with cutaneous irAE, including development of de novo psoriasis and exacerbation of pre-existing psoriasis.
